RL and fandom
So, second semester, yay. I got the shifts at work I wanted + 1 I didn't (evening shift on Thursdays). But oh well, I get a raise this semester, so I'm not complaining (much), LOL. Honestly, though, I can't wait to get back. I MISS MY COWORKERS, :C
As for school, I found out who I'll be working with during my mini practicum experience this semester. And of course, they have me a county over and not in mine, WTF. Why? They're going to give someone who lives AT LEAST 50 MILES AWAY a slot in MY COUNTY and make me travel that much farther just because they can (plus, it's further complicated by the fact that oh, yeah I DON'T DRIVE). I don't understand it, but *shrugs* I'll suck it up and deal.
And I'll be working within my county this semester, as well, doing IQ testing on gifted children (RU has a contract with my county). Training/orientation/blah is tentatively scheduled for this Monday (OMG SO NERVOUS), but school systems have been closed for snow, so we'll see. It'll be hectic (going between three different counties), but I snatched the chance because this'll be about the only time we work with gifted children, and the SP I spoke with said it's a wildly different experience and one we shouldn't miss.
Plus, after school, I want a job here (I really, really want one with the home for children down the road from me, but not likely), so I want my foot in the door to get to know people (b/c I am bad at networking. So, so bad. Like, I don't do it, ever).
And in fandom news, I've been beta'ing a lot for a friend of mine (DB fandom) who has had to wait months for it, so \o/. I tried taking on some other people (so, so sorry for bailing on you, lavinialavender), but poor taylor_serenil has been helping me deal with crazy RL stuff throughout the past year, and I couldn't make her wait any longer to post her fic! *smushes her even though she hardly seems to be on eljay*
I've also been working on my l4d_bigbang and my prompt challenge I picked over at ohsam (surprisingly slow going considering it's a relatively short fic). Besides that, I've got one of norahy's prompts half way done, and oh yeah -
- I DID SIGN UP FOR spn_j2_bigbang this year. I'm doing a gen/mild het (WTF?) Bobbyfic. Preseries. hahahaha, I decided, you know, he IS my favorite character EVER on the show, so why don't I try writing a longfic for him? Play to my likes this year and see if it works better for me.
And there will be no dropping out. Fandom needs more Bobbyfic and I'm not missing my chance at adding to it. Sweet baby jeebus, I'm so excited!
