Happy OBHWF Day!!!!
It was a year ago today that the book that made fandom asplode was released. I still remember dancing and squeeing with hippie_girl8 and rhrsoulmates. That was truly a one of a kind experience. Years later, I look back on fandom and count myself lucky that I didn't just read Harry Potter, I experienced it.
Can you picture telling your children and grandchildren how you were *there*? How you grew up with it, while they're just reading it for the first time. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to convey how very big it all was.
It's like Star Wars, LOTR, or the Beatles. I love all those things, but I wasn't there.
I consider myself luck that I was there, read the book, and bought the t-shirt.
HBP was amazing. It seemed to change fandom almost over night. It was a hell of a thing. The waiting, the anticipation, the speculation, spoiler week, actually getting everything we ever wanted and then some, squeeing in person, squeeing online, watching the fireworks, the interview of doom, watching more fireworks, and just all of it.
