What a night. Fun, good friends, good food, and icecream. And glowsticks! And even some alkimahol to make life a bit smoother. Much fun.
Anyways, we (being myself and Whyrl) decided that Bingo needed to get out and have fun, talk out his issues. He picked up a long-distance girlfriend a while back, and was quite smitten. The girl in question had dumped him once before in favour of a local guy, but that relationship had soured and she'd come back into Bingo's arms. Which fit nicely into a lot of the group dynamics around here, and being the planner that I can sometimes be, I took matters in hand. We'd already decided that Bingo and Whyrl will both be living with me after christmas, and if Serenia (the girl in question) moved here to be with Bingo, which was getting more and more likely, she'd need a place to stay. So it was decided she'd move into my spare room, which helped with my rent, gave Bingo a place to hide if he needed it, and her a place to be, and that come christmastime Bingo would move in full-time, and Whyrl would follow when Stewart moved out. A pretty good plan, all things considered. Just a blueprint, we needed to get Serenia up here for a month or two to see if the relationship would work out, and if she was 'livewithable', if that makes sense... but on paper, it looked good. I organised times, and places, and volunteered cash for a plane ticket - hell, did everything but book it for her - and all was sweet. She was going to come up for a couple of weeks in May or June, see how it all went, and then decide if she was moving up permanently.
Turns out she'd never broken up with her current boy (the one she chose over Bingo the first time) and though the relationship was turning sour, it wasn't over yet. She finally told him that it was over, and she was coming up here for a while... and he got a shade upset. She decided she needed to move ASAP, so the plans were expedited. She was sorted for a flight ten days away (the soonest we could get the cash) to stay indefinately, or until it looked like it wasn't going to work out. I spent a good six hours in mentat-mode planning, organising, filing possibilities and arranging things... while simultaneously organising Whyrl's study schedule, telling Stephen what was going on in such a way he /wouldn't/ explode at not having been included from the start (a delicate procedure at the best of times), and comforting another friend who'd just been in a breakup. A truly exhausting night, but worth it... I don't get to use that aspect of myself all that often, and I enjoyed the challenge.
Anyways, the next day Bingo told me what had happened while I was away... Serenia had chickened out. She'd decided that she really loved the guy she was with, that she couldn't stand the idea of leaving him and hurting him so badly, that she had the perfect life there she'd always wanted... and dumped Bingo. /Just/ when we all thought it was finalised. Never even considered coming up here to compare the situation with Bingo, to give him a chance to proove himself... Needless to say, our boy took it badly. And myself and Whyrl decided he shouldn't take it alone, and that we needed to get together, and talk it all out... the three of us, who were there for the start of the planning, be there for the end.
So the plan was made. Baileys, Chinese food, dance music, and much talking. I picked up a bottle, Whyrl rocked by sixish, and Bingo showed up just before 7. Chatted for a while, got set up - Bingo had brought a bunch of Skitz and Wild FM mix cds with him, so we had music, and he'd also brought glowsticks... Glowsticks! Yeah! A pair of necklaces with blue glowsticks onna ends!
We rocked out for chinese, fried rice, lemon chicken, and some pork... *drool* and drinks... ended up stopping by the supermarket and picking up a keg of icecream and some softdrinks for later. Swung back home, ate the chinese to the tune of VNV Nation, then opened the baileys and started talkin'. Covered everything from job prospects to past experiences to women, and then went back and did it all again, stopping off at roleplay and Fenelon's group in general. Basically, got a little crazy, loosened up, and had fun. Around 9 we realised the bottle was empty, so trekked off to the bottleshop for another one - turns out I don't have any valid ID since my learners expired, so I need to get that fixed up sometime soon. But we got our bottle anyways, came home, and polished that off with icecream.... nummy. And glowsticks! Glowsticks!! Spoke some more about the value of friendship, deciding that loyalty and reliability are the essential parts... knowing that if you need someone, they are /there/, and if they can help, they will... not so much taking the offer, but being aware that the offer exists, and is genuine. Not 'I'll help you, but first I have to do this and this and this and this', not 'Sure, I'll do it next week', but a genuine if-I'm-needed-I'm-there commitment. Fairly rare to have, unfortunately... but I know damn well us three have it for each other. All the more reason the sharehouse plan will work.
Retired to the computer at this point, 'coz Takena was online and Whyrl is whipped... *grin* and joked around online for a while... don't think the folks in #feathers were all that impressed by our endorphin count, but bugger it... we set out to have fun, and fun we did. Bingo and Whyrl got into a ticklefight, somehow... christ Whyrl's sensitive! Barely have to touch him and he screams and twists away... so we had a lot of fun with that one :) He got rather paranoid, rather quickly... but hey, it was fun. The birdbrain also spoke far more than usual; getting words out of him is almost like pulling teeth, but he and Bingo got into an 'areso!' 'amnot!' fight over if he was talking more... *grin*
Anyways, we crashed out not long after that (Only 1am! Fear!) and crawled back outta our respective beds/couches/floors around 9, and sat around talking some more. Whyrl had an 11am lecture, so Bingo gave him a ride to uni, and that was that. Scariest thing about the night is that while it sounds impressive to say we drank two bottles of spirits, really we had maybe 4 standard drinks each, over four-odd hours... so all we really did was keep enough in our systems to be loose and relax. The rest of the craziness was just... us being crazy. Can't blame alcohol for that one. But we all had fun, unwound a bit, and we've decided that we have to do it again in a few weeks... try a different drink, but stick to the same format. Dark room, dance music, talking, and glowsticks. Lots of glowsticks. And insanity. Lots and lots of that... not that we're ever in short supply, or anything.
