002 Play [Video || Action]

[Tim is out in the park with a football. He's rigged up an old tire to swing from a tree limb and he's hammering the football through the tire. He jogs out to get the football then returns to do it again. Throwing passes aren't really his thing but catching passes takes more than one person. He actually looks fairly thoughtful for a change rather

Yeah. Sure. I can do that. You wanna come here to the park or just [He gestures to the device with the football.]

[ She thinks about that for a moment, before smiling. ] I think I will come to the park. That should be rather more authentic, I believe.

[dillonrockstar]

[She gets a lopsided grin in return.] I'll look for you.

[ And a little later, Tessa makes her appearance - dressed as usual in the clothing of her period. ]

[And the clothes still give Tim a double take. It's like she's stepped out of some book he was supposed to read in school. He jogs over to her, stopping within a couple of feet then grinning down at her.]

You made it. [Because he'd had some doubt. He doesn't seem like her favorite person.]

[ Tessa gives a small curtsy. Even though she knows that in this world, it is not quite appropriate and certainly not expected, it helps her regain some sense of who she is and where she comes from to cling to such outward expressions of her time. ]

Of course. I said that I would be here, did I not?

[Tim shrugs at that and runs his hand back through his hair. The curtsy makes him grin.]

Pretty sure m's'posed to bow back. You're probably goin' to have to help me with that one.

I do not expect it. [ Though it does please her that he seems willing to adapt a little to her world, if only by bowing. ]

[Tim frowns and makes a clumsy bow then holds up the football in one hand.] Alright, so this is a football.

[likeboudica]

[ The bow makes her smile - not in a mocking manner though, however clumsy it might have been. ]

Very well. And what are the rules to this game? [ She doesn't want to play, but she's ever curious. ]

[He's not a complete jackass all of the time.]

Well that's the thing 'bout football. There's a ton of rules to remember. You gotta start with the goals. There's two teams with eleven guys on each team and everybody's got a position--a job to do. The goal of the game is gettin' this ball down to your end of the field while the other team tries to stop you.

That does not sound too complicated so far.

Nah without all the rules, it's real simple. [He balances the point of the ball between his fingers, spinning it a little as he talks. He's not really showing off. He just feels better with a football in his hands. He feels better doing something with it.]

Then they come 'round and screw everything up with rules 'bout how you can hit people. You can't hold 'em back. You can't interfere with a pass. You can't grab a guy by his facemask.

Do you not enjoy the additional rules, then?

Some of 'em are alright. They're there so people don't get hurt but it's football, not a tea party. Sometimes all the extra rules just keep you from playin'.
