the winter soldier
recently i've been thinking it would be fun to re-watch enemy of the state to enjoy the utopian escapist fantasy of a world in which ubiquitous surveillance and executive kill orders could only be the work of a rogue faction within our government.
this movie offers a similarly comforting story in which the system for profiling all citizens and choosing which ones to use automated flying death machines to kill turns out to be the work of a self-consciously evil conspiracy. instead of, you know, the most recent presidents of both parties.
but in any case it's a fun captain america movie; we get more of black widow and nick fury; and the director seems to love wild chase scenes (moominmolly described it as "chase scene porn") and reflections. worth seeing if you've liked the other recent related superhero flicks.
