it's probably not too late to see them in revere at 1pm today. :) it's certainly not too late to see them at 7pm...

spike posted that this was the best of their shows he'd seen. i thought it wasn't as consistently technically advanced as last year's-- i think some of their hotshots must have aged out-- but it was good. and the rope act at the end was pretty technical (and featured a side planche. :) also a climb i'd never seen before, alternating same-side leg crochets and scissors hip keys.).

i think my own favorite act was this year's weird hybrid apparatus, a horizontal ring with three silks dangling from it, two of them running across the ring to hang from pulleys, so that the crossing fabrics could be pulled down for variable-length fabric slings, counterweighted by the spotters on the tails, who could themselves climb up and do silks hangs. it was an act mostly about pretty poses, but neat. the fabrics were white with smeary black horizontal lines like newsprint, matching the running theme of the show, and the overall effect was very pretty.

also there was a pretty fun tightwire act. and some surprisingly funny clowning. also a nice sort of triple static trap act on an apparatus that was like three static trapezes welded together into a triangle (so just three ropes), with three girls who looked pretty young, so if they stay so well-matched in size and keep performing together for a few years i bet they'll be doing some amazing stuff.

i was entertained to note two girl jugglers (i think the gender skew in juggling acts is just a cultural thing, but still), the younger of whom was also in the pole act and i think another strength act (i'm forgetting which one). and two flexible willowy boys, one of whom was in a couple of the aerial acts that were based on pretty poses. yay cutting across gender stereotypes. :)

chillguru was there recruiting, hah. :) apparently two of the performers are coming to boston for college next year. :)
