frobzwiththingz and klingonlandlady are off to nevada already, but some arranging apparently caused two fabrics and a lyra to appear at my house while i was in seattle over the weekend, so i brought them to practice for the few people who were there.

even with the small turnout there was a new woman i didn't recognize, evidently a dancer, and a new man i didn't recognize but who said he'd been there some before, a firespinner. also pam showing off her new static trap routine, chris, jeremy, and doze_e_fish. we all got lots of fabric time. :) (and having missed the past two weeks, i felt like i wasn't in good enough shape to make optimum use of it, but still it was nice.)

i took a stab at the end at actually learning the georgia twist, which i now have a handy video of sitting on my laptop though i haven't put it up on youtube yet because frobzwiththingz said something cryptic at the photoshoot about different variations and we took a couple of different videos and i want to sit down and compare them for a while first.

and spent a while more on the "continuous front salto." it seems like if i actually let all the way go of the tails at the right moment, i swing right around and come up. it turns out also that if i let go of a tail at the exact wrong moment, it does in fact lose all tension and drop me out of the wrap right onto the floor. huh.

chris played with it some along with me, then became obsessed with finding interesting ways to get out of the wrap at the end. in the process of this he sort of found a new foot lock, which he had me take video of on his iphone, which i have posted to youtube. i think the way the loop drops off the knee and suddenly there's a footlock is very slick. but it isn't stable in the same ways as the regular footlock, so it may be misleading when used for the same things... and it's also a bit more difficult to get out of.
