Well, I've just been informed that from now through the end of the year my boss and myself will pretty much be on call 24/7. Not that that's a big change from what I already am, but now they're getting me a PCS wireless card so I get to take my laptop everywhere I go with me. At least I won't have to stick around the house now to do work I guess.

Wow.

Do you get paid per call you take or have a bonus percentage added for being on call? I cannot remember if you are salary or not, but that would suck. At least you are not tied down, though, right?

Yeah, I'm hourly so as long as I got my 40 hours in, it's overtime. Plus if it's like after 10 and before 6 in the morning, it's double the time at overtime pay, so that's nice.

We'll see how much I actually get called though. Sometimes my boss thinks things are going to be really bad and they don't turn out that way. Of course, with year end coming up and 2 major conversions, things will definately be interesting.

I remember conversions. Those always suck no matter what department you are working in. LOL They need to make self-adjusting software that slowly and gradually changes allowing the users and hardware it is being run on to have time to deal with it.
