What a nice weekend. Where's the rewind button?

I've had a really nice weekend.

Jo Ann had the kids stay at her house yesterday evening and over night so that Karen and I could spend some time to ourselves and celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. Nothing nearly as elaborate as we had discussed or hoped to plan when we started discussing things last year. Just dinner and a movie. More like an homage to our early dating years.

I felt bad that I didn't have an anniversary gift to give to Karen. Money is a bit tight, and the money I would have used to buy the gift I want to give to her is the money I'm saving for something special coming up in a few months. The gift I truly hoped to receive from Karen is not one of monetary value, but one of kept promises and intimacy. I figure maybe my Sweetie is saving up to make that something extra special too; so I guess we're both in the same boat. :-)

Dinner:
We started off with dinner at Texas Roadhouse. A bloomin' onion for appetizer, and then steak dinners with all the fixings. Karen had a ribeye, and I had a Kansas City Strip cooked medium well. It was absolutely delicious.

On the way home, I almost pulled into the Super Cuts parking lot. There was just enough time to get there before they closed, get a haircut, and still have time to go home for a bit before heading off to our movie.
I would loved to have just walked into the salon, sat down in the fist available chair, point to karen and and have said "do whatever she says." But that's not how it's supposed to happen. I'd rather Karen be the one to cut my hair; but if I do end up getting it cut at a salon, I want it to be her picking the when, where, and how, and surprising me with an unprompted trip to the salon. If I have to do it, I feel like I'm begging; and that spoils the whole thing. Besides, Karen wasn't dressed for the occasion. We had gone to the restaurant in plain old jeans and t-shirts, and not a stitch of makeup or hair styling between the two of us. It would have been very anti-climactic after as long as I have waited to finally receive my haircut.

Nookie:
After dinner, we came home and had amazing sex. Even tried something new that I hope we get to do again soon. There were other things I really wanted to do as well, and would have been more than happy to stay in and spend the whole night at home together; but we had tickets to see "Oz, The Great and Powerful" at the Five Star Lounge at the Des Peres Wehrenberg theater. Besides, I knew that even if we were to stay home, Karen would just want to take a nap and what I had in mind wouldn't end up happening anyway.

Movie
The movie was really good, and seeing it in the Five Star Lounge was really nice. You sit in a smaller theater than the typical seated stadium style gallery; relaxing in leather recliner chairs with your own individual table. You order food or refreshments from a menu, via a waiter, and they bring it to you. We just ordered popcorn and sodas, and unlimited refills were free. I think the next time we go, we'll order dinner before our popcorn.

It was late when we got home, and Karen was really tired. It had been a long day for her. I wanted to have sex again, but I knew she wasn't up for it. I must have done something right this weekend, though; because we ended up having sex again this morning, just before I had to go pick up the kids.

Like I said, it was a very nice weekend. I wish I had a rewind button to do it all over again. Especially the part where my gorgeous wife was on top.

PS: I'm still waiting for my anniversary card. I've gotten a card from Bubbie every year since we got married. She always manages to pick out a really good one every year. I'm guessing she just forgot to give it to me.
