It is good to be home with the kids and just chillaxing in our own environment. I'm wiped, and have been dozing off and on ever since we came through the door and got settled in a little over an hour ago.
The kids are watching Netflix and playing their learning games just a few feet away from me, I've caught up on much of my farming on Farmville, and am just zoning out to let my brain relax.
I think I may be a bit dehydrated. Beyond the fact that my sinuses are acting up today, and I'm groggy from the antihistamine that I took around noon, I've got quite the headache and body aches at the moment. I'e found a comfortable position to sit in at the moment, and I'm not moving for a while.
It was a very mellow and relaxing weekend. Things didn't exactly pan out the way I had thought they would, and we never really got around to doing much of anything at all that actually involved the use of the lake (at least Karen and I didn't); but there were some positive aspects to the weekend:
We enjoyed the company of our friends (Karen more so than I, since she was with them more throughout the day yesterday), and I got to know them better.
It was nice and quiet to be away from the kids for a couple of days, and I got a lot of reading done. I'm almost finished with the first book of the Hunger Games.
I got to look at the lake. I haven't been down to Lake of the Ozarks in about 13 or 14 years. Maybe next time I go I'll actually go onto the lake.
I got to watch the Olympics (live) without the kids wanting to turn on cartoons.
Now, if only I had a weekend to recover from the weekend, since being out of my own environment is typically more of a stress on my system than it is a relaxation factor. If I had more unplanned time off in my bank, I would definitely stay home tomorrow to relax and recover.
I enjoyed the weekend getaway (could have gone better), but the best part of the weekend, was seeing Karen having so much fun over the weekend (except for the part where she passed out from being drunk). This weekend was great for her. She was able to have fun, relax, let her hair down (so to speak) and really enjoy being with other adults. We don't get to do that very often anymore, and that positive factor alone made the whole weekend worth while.
I'd like to start saving and put some money away, so that maybe she and I can go down there again for a 3 or 4 day weekend (or maybe a week) sometime; where we stay by ourselves, but hook up with friends for a day or so, but can explore and have fun together. I think that would be nice.
