Another year older. Funny how the time flies by you, and seems to go faster and faster the older you get.
Just think, in 729 days, I will be 40. And then it will be PARTY TIME! I'm going to have a party so big, and so wild, that our friends will still be talking about it when I'm getting ready to turn 50.
I've really got to start thinking about what we are going to do, and saving up for it. Lukily for me, we usually get our tax return right around my birthday, so funds will be available for everything that we think of that we haven't already saved for over the next two years.
I want to come up with something really cool. For once, I want to do something so big and so fun that other people are copying my ideas, instead of it always feel like I'm just doing something someone else has already done.
OMG! I'm too young to be 40. So lets just be 38 for now. Wow!
I'm not looking forward to getting old, but being that it's a milestone birthday, the massive party that I'm going to have actually has me looking forward to it. And I've got parties to make up for, so it's going to be HUGE. A party to make up for the fact that I never got birthday parties as a kid, never had a big 16th, or 21st, or 30th birthday party. So it's going to be 4 Big Monster parties all wrapped up into one.
We'll need a reception hall, or someplace big to hold it at. I'm thinking a guest list of at least 50 to 100 people. Food, music, a giant cake, videos, picture boards, hired entertainment, lots of booze - because for once I'm going to be at a big party where I'm the one that can get drunk. My 30th birthday party, that was supposed to be a Big Deal never happened, so at this point I've waited 8 long years for it to finally be MY turn. I've only got two more to go.
These past 8 years have given me quite a few examples to help me think about what kind of things I want to do. Many of Karen's friends have turned 30 in the past 8 years, and they've had some really cool milestone birthday parties.
We even had one friend turn 50, and his party was awesome. They had Spaghetti wrestling. I never even knew you could hire people to do that. It was so freaking awesome. A bunch of girls got into an inflatable pool, full of oiled up spaghetti, and pretended to wrestle while they shoved spaghetti into each others faces, bikini tops and bottoms. I wonder if it would be possible to get the wrestlers to wear vinyl bikinis? And, instead of wrestling in spaghetti, would they wrestle in jello?
Oooh! The girls could wrestle in jello, and each girl would pick people to stand on one side to be her cheering section. Each time that each section's girl got pinned, or had a certain move pointed against her, they would have to eat a jello shot.
So, we have 2 years to plan this thing out, and to start saving money away for the party. When you're doing things on the scale of something the size of a wedding reception, it's not exactly cheap. But with two whole years to plan ahead, it really shouldn't be all that big of a deal in that regards. Maybe we'll design out own invitations, and print them out ourselves. Stuff like that.
Oh well, we've got plenty of time to prepare and come up with lots of ideas. For now, Happy 38. Man I'm getting old.
