There's nothing more fun or confidence boosting than starting out an article with a definition, so let's do that first:
Fetish - An object or bodily part whose real or fantasied presence is psychologically necessary for sexual gratification and that is an object of fixation to the extent that it may interfere with complete sexual expression
(Taken from the Merriam-Webster Online dictionary)
Now when expressed this way, a fetish really doesn't seem like fun at all, instead of being something one might refer to as 'fun', it's more like a sexual ball and chain, an extra set of conditions that must be met in order to experience sexual pleasure.
Fortunately, the term is wildly misused in many cases. In many instances, sexual kinks or predilections referred to as fetishes aren't really fetishes at all. If you find wearing stockings hot, but are still more than capable of getting it on without wearing stockings, then you really have more of a strong preference (often referred to as a kink) than a fetish.
The term 'fetish' is also commonly used in connection with activities, not just objects, as the definition describes. For instance, spanking is a common 'fetish' that many engage in to one extent or another, be it in the form of a playful love tap whilst walking past a partner, or in the context of a BDSM 'scene' where the spankee is tied to a bench and flogged with a rubber flogger.
If you're a little kinky, you might just be wondering if maybe you have a fetish. Take this fun fetish test to see if you might have a fetish, results are at the bottom of the page.
Is my kink a fetish?
Do you ever dress in fetish wear in public?
No, but I have secretly worn fetish gear under my clothes out in public.
Have you joined an Internet Pay Site in order to pander to your kink?
YES. (But not currently)
Have you joined more than one Internet Pay Site in order to pander to your kink?
YES. (But not currently)
Do you turn away partners because they're not kinky enough?
YES, I have in the past. Back in my dating years, I would disqualify persons I was attracted to, or even interested in, because they did not meet or could not participate in certain of my fetishes. Since the age of 16, I've only dated one girl who was not a smoker. That relationship lasted less than one month, despite the fact that she had the largest breasts I had ever seen on a young lady, and the fact that she too shared a hair fetish of her own for giving guys haircuts and crew cuts.
Did you have to stop reading this article to go and uh, well, you know.... because it made you think of your kink?
Almost. I'll deal with that later.
Do you look your kink up in the dictionary for a little thrill?
I have in the past. (yes)
Are you pursuing your kink right now?
YES. It's running in the background on another browser.
Do you try to hide your kink from others?
YES. I have to. Most people wouldn't understand. How do you explain that one of the most arousing images that you can imagine is watching a woman smoke a cigarette? and that the only thing that could make it even more arousing would be if her hair was some shade of intense red, or that her head was shaved completely bald, all while she were wearing leather, rubber, or vinyl? (My main three fetishes rank in that order) If the woman is a BBW, any of the above fetishes is intensified; but being a BBW is preferred, it is not a fetish requirement.
Do you try and demonstrate your kink to others?
YES. And it has backfired many times; even from close loved ones.
Do you find it impossible to get into a sexual mood without thinking about your kink?
YES. I can't stay aroused without at least one of my fetishes being present, or at least pictured in my mind. It's powerful enough, that even the tast or smell of cigarette smoke on my wife's breath, when I kiss her, gives me an instant erection. Currently, the only thing I usually need to push me over the point of no return and orgasm, is to think of her smoking, or shaving my head, or about eating her pussy.
Does your kink have a widely known acronym?
YES.
Do you engage in your kink daily on a physical basis?
YES. Every time my wife lights up a cigarette, it is like an erotic movie being played out live right in front of me. My mind records it for later re-visualization. Unfortunately, my other fetishes are not so easily indulged, or as frequently participated in by my loved one. So far, I've been lucky in the fact that my wife likes to smoke, and enjoys it; as opposed to feeling chained to a habit. (However, I do wish she would cut back on how much she smokes. I do worry about her health; and this fetish is a constant source of guilt for me. To that end, I'm constantly wanting to ask her to quit... but not before she shaves me bald again. I keep waiting for her to want that from me badly enough to just do it... but it hasn't happened so far.)
Do you engage in your kink daily on a mental basis?
YES! I can't have an orgasm without it.
Have you thought about starting a religion based on your kink?
Um.... NO. Although I would consider joining a club for fellow fetishists - especially if it involved frequent head shavings or hair cuts, or the wearing of fetish fashion. And, at least for now, the "church of smoking fetish" is attended daily in my own home, and every time we go to a bar together; and Karen is my pastor. I just watch and admire from the pews.
Have you thought about starting a political party based on your kink?
NO. But persons passing legislation one way or another in a manner that affects my main fetish will cause me to vote for or against a political group or candidate. If you want me to actively work for your opponent in the next election, just mention that you support a smoking ban in any local munincipality; I'll even cross party lines.
Do you only make friends with those who can advance you in your kinkyness?
Not on a friend level. But it often dictates who I will flirt with, or confide in on a more personal level. (affects female relationships only)
Have you lost partners solely due to your kink?
YES. I've had girlfriends react negatively to my hair fetish, and I have broken up with persons over one or more of my fetishes that they won't participate in. I've broken up with girls because they didn't smoke, or because they preferred long hair so much that they would never cut or shave mine. As much as I love shaved heads on women, there are other hairstyles to indulge my interest... so I can give a pass there.
Have you spent more than you can afford on your kink?
I have in the past; in relation to my leather, rubber, and vinyl fetish.
Has your kink caused you to visit a professional kink specialist?
Not in person.
Have you ever behaved inappropriately due to your kink?
Unfortunately, Yes.
RESULTS:
15-20 - Fetish Maniac! You definitely have a fetish. This may cause you to have a limited sexuality, but a very intense one. Do try to ensure that it does not rule your life, however. Having a fixation on anything to the detriment of the rest of your life is not a good thing, even if it does feel good,... oh so good, at the time.
