I have a sexy wife!
A very beautiful thing happened yesterday evening...
Two days ago, on Mother's day, (Karen's first. Yea!) while we were getting ready to go to church services Karen told me that she was fed up with her hair because she just couldn't get it to do what she wanted it to do. My first thought was that it had been over two and a half months since she had gotten her last haircut, (Karen's hair easily grows over and inch in length per month) so I reminded her that I had mentioned she should probably go and get her hair done.
(SIDE NOTE: When a woman is complaining that their hair is not styling the right way, the only accurate response is "what do you mean, sweetie? Your hair looks great.")
Well, as a result of that conversation she got to thinking that she wanted to do something quite different with her hair; like bleach it blonde and get a new haircut. The haircut part I was all for, but since I am partial to prefering red heads and brunettes, I wasn't so eager to see her bleach her hair blonde. (we had experimented with that aspect some months prior, and I didn't care too much for it; and in fact, I had been exstatic when she finally colored it back to a deep rich red color. Her idea of blonde was a strawberry blonde, and if a woman's hair is going to be blonde, I prefer almost platinum blonde. But that's a whole other story...)
So, after work, it was off to the salon. I had offered that instead of bleaching her hair all blonde, that she might prefer to have it profesionally highlighted. She really loved that idea, and I thought it would look great. Karen had also described to me what it was that she didn't like about her current hairstyle, and how she wanted the back to stand out away from her head in a spikey sort of blown back fashion that has been the style for a lot of girls over the past couple of years. I told her that the problem was with her hair texture, she hadn't been getting it cut short enough. I figured that would be the last I heard of that style, because Karen has never liked her hair short. She's always been under the same myth that heavy set women don't look good in short hair. I couldn't disagree more, and in fact love short hair on women. My dream cut on Karen would be a spikey crewcut; about an inch to inch and a half long on top and tapered down to about 1/2 to 3/4 inches around the sides with a bit of fringe at the side burns, and her bangs left long and whispy over her forehead.
Karen sat in the chair and began telling Jill how she wanted her hair. She was asking for the short cut I had described, and I could hardly believe my ears. I ended up suggesting that the back be cut to only and inch long and then razor thinned to help texturize and lift it. Jill agreed, and Karen said ok. The next thing I knew, Karen had a pull cap on her head and Jill was pulling thick chunks of hair through to highlight it a golden blonde. When that part of the process was all finished, Karen had a beautiful head of red hair with coper and golden highlights all through it. Then it was back into the chair for the cut.
Jill started in the back and the hair started raining to the floor. Pieces as long as three to three and a half inches were falling away from the scissors. The top and sides were next, and with as long as Karen's hair had grown out since her last cut, nearly as much was coming off there too. It was almost more than I could stand. I guess it doesn't take much to turn a hair fetishist like myself on.
When it was all over and finished, my wife looked absolutely incredible. Her response, "I have no hair left on my head." My thoughts, you have pleanty of hair on your head, and it looks gorgeous; and I made sure to tell her so every chance I could. I hope she likes it, and gets used to it. Maybe she'll keep it this short for a while. In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy every minute of gazing at her naked ears, and her exposed nape, and running my hands through the cropped hair on the back of her head.
