Percy was lying flat on the sofa in Oliver's flat when he looked to his side and saw a very life-like figure of a house elf staring at him. He shrieked.
"What?" Oliver asked, sounding alarmed.
"What the heck is that?" Percy pointed at the figure still staring at him.
Oliver laughed. "That's just an elf on a shelf," he said.
"Why is it staring at me?"
"It was a gift to all Quidditch Players from our year. It's been there so many years, I barely noticed it."
"Well, I have not been here, so apologies if I am more alarmed than your other regular guests might have been!" Percy said, annoyed. He sat up straight on the sofa. "It's simply…"
"I haven't had many "guests" here as you are suggesting, Percy, and if you hate it, then I'll put it in the storage." Oliver stood up off the sofa and made his way to his wand.
"Wait…" Percy said. He didn't want Oliver to get rid of something he clearly liked, even if it freaked Percy out. Maybe he should have been more mature about this. "That's alright. I just… was surprised, is all. We can…" He shrugged. "Continue."
Oliver gave him a beaming grin and all but pounced back on Percy. "Thanks for being so patient," Oliver whispered in Percy's ear. "I'll make it so good for you."
Their second attempt at trying to be romantic was interrupted by the Floo when Draco Malfoy walked out of the fireplace.
"Percy. Where is Neville?"
"What?" asked Percy, standing up and quickly trying to button his trousers. "Why would he be here?"
"Well, he was your date, was he not? And now you're here, so I assumed the three of you…" Malfoy waved his hand in the air.
"How did you even know I was here?"
Malfoy blushed slightly. "I subscribe to SMUG."
SMUG, of course, stood for Scandalised Ministry's Unhinged Gossip. It was a show on the Wireless that mostly went unnoticed, and Percy had no idea Malfoy was such a fan. Percy's thoughts about it were that it was unbecoming for anyone with good taste and sound judgment.
