"It isn't that simple, Father," Scorpius said, staring at the family portrait hanging next to them. He concentrated on Harry's glasses which were slightly crooked and as the portrait looped around, Harry kept trying to fix them.
He noticed Draco was looking at the same thing. He had a small smile on his face as if, even in all of these serious conversations, he was still so enamoured by Harry.
Scorpius felt the same. He felt the same with James and Teddy. Their relationship wasn't as long as his two dads' but it was still meaningful.
"Would you share with me as to why?" Draco asked in a soft tone; then he looked at Scorpius again. "I'm not asking in judgement, but, it does make things…complicated."
"I've bonded-"
"You what?"
"Not officially. No ceremony or anything but- there's a part of me- maybe because of blood and Teddy also being a son of werewolf- there's something between us. This need. It's not just sexual…" he hesitated but his father didn't seem repulsed so he trudged on. "I have a need to be with them. Teddy feels it too. It's a pull."
"And James?"
Scorpius scoffed; he almost said the words but stopped. "It's not my place to state their business."
Draco nodded.
"It is obvious I can't tell you what to do. I mean, it's your life, you're no fool." He smirked then. "I'd say a Malfoy trait because Potters are a bunch of fools." He shook his head as if to tell himself to knock off the joke on the tip of his tongue. "If there were to be a ceremony…I just want you to know what you're getting yourself into. A mate-bonding- it's no easy feat, son."
Scorpius smiled with relief. "Thank you for trusting me."
