Things you should know about OPENID!

For all transitioning from LJ to DW. Temp or Perm or whatever. This is VERY IMPORTANT. I think.

Claiming your OpenID URL will update all your imported comments, in your journal or in other people's journals, so they're owned by the Dreamwidth account that claimed them: that way you can still manage your old content without having to authenticate to LiveJournal, which you can't do once your LJ account is deleted and purged. (If your account on LJ has already been deleted and purged, unfortunately there's no way to authenticate and claim your OpenID.) - DW

When a community transfers over from LJ to DW, unless you’ve already claimed your “OPENID” your comments and posts transfer over with a link to your lj.

See images below. This is a tutorial of sorts and it's very image heavy.

In order to make any future edits, or delete your posts, or edit your comments in communities, you have to >>claim your OPENID<<.

What is an OPENID account

You have to do a couple of steps before you claim.

Make sure you're logged into LJ with the account you wanna claim/transfer over. Then go to this link.

Type in your LJ account name that you want to claim and hit submit. It'll take you to you LJ page. And you have to click on "YES ALWAYS"

And it'll take you back to DW. And you'll get this notification:

Claim Confirmation Sent

Your request has been submitted. Please watch your email for confirmation. You will need to confirm the request by following the directions in the email.

After that, just check your email and click on the link they send you. It takes a while for you to get it. If it's over 24hours you'll have to do the process again.

I transferred this over for
creaturefestmod,
hogwarts365_mod, and other accounts. It's good to do this ASAP before you delete your LJ or it gets deleted (BIG IF, but you know. Better safe than sorry).

I used my old LJ account for this to show you the example, but I've noticed a lot of my friends that have OPENIDs on all the comms and you should do this ASAP.
