Catching up on the news

RL has gotten out of hand as I'm working around the clock to meet a Tuesday deadline. So I'm once again behind on Twitter but here are a few things.

Anthony Warlow is actually coming to Broadway! He'll be Daddy Warbuck in Annie. I always knew Charnin liked Warlow (he did write a new song in Annie for him for a production years ago). But after all these years I never thought Anthony would perform in New York. Yeah for us!

I haven't been posting all the reviews of the Les Mis trailer but here are two that I just had to post.

The first is just a totally silly piece from The Guardian. Here's an extract:

And here's a crying waif of a child, lost and alone and desperately waiting for help that'll never come. She'll probably die long before she reaches adulthood. Talk about a downer.

The second review I'm sharing is more nice comments from Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub (one of the guys from that CinemaCon video). He put it in his weekly Top 5:

I gotta be honest, cinematic musicals really aren’t my thing. I can appreciate a good stage musical as much as the next guy but, in the film medium, I just have a hard time buying in. That’s why I was so surprised when this first cut from director Tom Hooper‘s Les Miserables adaptation hit me like it did. Anne Hathaway‘s rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream” sounds incredible and I’m seeing Hugh Jackman in something other than X-Men Origins: Wolverine, so it really is a win-win. If the trailer “wows” you like it did me, then I also encourage you to check out the film’s first poster and 16 new images which also landed online this past week.

And it seems Amanda Seyfried and possibly Hugh Jackman will be present at this years Tony Awards on June 10 (source)

Also a new caption contest on the official movie Facebook.

And I can't find confirmation of it except this post on Twitter but the film is going to have puppeteer do a Punch and Judy show ( a tweet from the puppeteer). And I can find no confirmation of the rumors they are looking for a man with a peg leg for the Thénardier Inn scene.

hugh jackman, tonys, anthony warlow, anne hathaway, tom hooper, les mis, amanda seyfried
