Yeah, he is a bit of a douchebag, but I'd never criticize his work ethic. At twenty-three, he has produced four albums, toured yearly, graduated high school, taken college classes, been involved in a nationwide AIDS awareness campaign, produced multiple music videos, performed multiple times on The Dome, won an Echo Award, done two modeling gigs, helped build a school in Ethiopia, helped raised money for Menschen für Menschen and other projects, and become internationally known. That blows any of the shit I've done out of the water. The only way any of that could be done is if he were ambitious.

He's also bitter. He's lost a lot of the recognition, fame, and fans he once had. He's been fucked over by Universal. When Germans think of KiPi, they think of a Teenie Band and marvel that they're still around. He's had to push through that. His bandmates have also shunted the greater part of fandom interaction on him outside of shows and interviews, which means Jo's the one who has to hear all the criticism and be pestered by fantwits. I also wouldn't doubt he has undiagnosed mental health issues. He certainly seems to have bouts of depression, and his sense of self-worth is all over the place, some of which may very well be tied up in his relationship with Mäx. It's a lot of shit to deal with.

...I honestly admire him. I also think he's a whiny, little attention whore with douchebag tendencies and an affinity for sarcasm. He'd make a pretty epic troll if he ever put his mind to it.

Of course he deserves what he's got, and more, and should be recognized for what he's done. It's in the difference of categories: high level for all the merits - and some everyday stuff that isn't really taken into account after all. Except for occasional chatting.

Frankly, if I'd talk seriously about him I'd likely burst into tears (oh, well), so I've got some silly defence mechanisms to maintain.

*pats on back* Is okay. I spend my free time thinking about dudes fucking so I can write stories about them not fucking. I also like to diagnose and re-diagnose celebrities with psychological issues (Jo and Christian Linke are my favorites in this). We all have our own things.
