Long day today...
First, the neatest thing, I got an in-person Mandy hug today! a_phoenixdragon and I have been good friends for a bunch of years, but only here online. As much as we've wanted otherwise life kept getting in the way and kept us from getting to meet up in 'real life'. What makes it even worse is that we probably live six miles away from each other, at most.
Today, finally, that changed! Mandy, like a lot of us, has been having a really hard time of it lately. Both she and her hubby are out of work right now. They're fighting hard to find new jobs, and get some assistance, but it takes time. In the mean time they've got two small kidlets to feed.
I suggested going to one of our local food banks, we've got some great ones set up by Dare to Care. I went last week and got some help to tide us over and gave Mandy the info I found out. We got the address for the one in her area and I offered to pick her up. I really wanted to help. Plus, I knew there'd be bonus hugs and the chance to finally meet my friend in person.
The hugs were great, she was just as nice as I knew she'd be and the food bank was really nice! And generous! She got lots of goodies, both fresh and canned. I was so glad, I hope that it'll help until things get better for them.
After I left Mandy I had to rush home so I could take Lee to the doctor. He's not doing much better. He's weak, he has no endurance, no appetite and his stomach is still torn up and bloated. At the doctor's office they drew labs and then both of us got to talk with our doc. Dr Lemon put him on an antibiotic and a stomach med to help ease some of the pain and rawness in his stomach. He said he doesn't want Lee to even try to go back to work until next Monday.
After the doc visit I got him home and then went back out to get his meds and pick up a few groceries. Poor sweetie is still miserable. He's slept most of the day but I got fluids in him whenever he was awake. Just a bit ago I made him a banana and pineapple smoothie and he drank it all so, yay!
So, I'm pretty beat, it was a good day but a long one. I'm going to go put the rest of my groceries away, get my jammies on, get Lee settled for the night and then read a bit before I conk out.
