The moral of the story is...

If you have a perfectly good car it's just not a good idea to let it sit and rot for almost a year and a half.

I got caught out in the rain the other day and when I went to turn on the rear wiper blade it moved a couple of times and then gave a loud thunk and died. I already had an appointment to take her in to be looked at, the drip pan they jury-rigged for me to catch the oil drip on the condenser was rattling loudly whenever I idled the car, so now there was something else they needed to check out as well.

They fixed the drip pan noise, they ended up finding another piece to use and welded it in place so she's running really quietly now. I wasn't so lucky with the wiper. Glen searched like crazy to try and find used parts for me but, no luck. They ended up having to replace the arm and the motor. Even with cutting the labor more than in half I now have a new bill of $346.00 to pay. With what I'd already given them I'd gotten our bill down to $300.00, now it's suddenly $646.00 which is a scary amount for me knowing what I already face. I couldn't pay the state the full amount of my $802.00 payment to them this month and that has me scared enough already.

So, I'll definitely be trying to sell my Elfquest figures, they're both limited editions of 1,500. Leetah is only #12 of the run and Cutter is #331. I'm also going to be gathering up comics, the rest of my Supernatural fanzines and as much else as I can part with right now to help us get back on a less scary footing.

Poor Doug, every time something else goes boink on the car he feels guilty because of what it's costing us. I squash that quickly, I have transportation thanks to him. Even if it ends up costing $1500.00 where else would I find a decent car for that much? Much less one that'll last as long as I need it to be able to. Guys, I have a/c now! Do you know how much that alone means to my little lupus riddled body? Tons! And I'm sure to tell him that whenever I see him looking worried for us.

It's just life, keeping me on my toes and running as fast as I can, as always.

*hugs*
