Made it through another day, barely. I've got two hundred words for you today, all based around the word, silence. Hope that you guys like it. :)

Title: A Better Place to Be
Author: Digitalwave
Fandom: Supernatural
Character: Dean
Rating: PG-13 for language
Word Count: 200 words
Spoilers: Gen series spoilers for all aired episodes, inc 6.07
Summary: Silence sure as hell ain't golden...

The silence between them used to be fine, comforting. Hell, most days they knew each other’s moods almost before the other one knew themselves.

Not any more, though. Not since Hell happened. Dean glances over at Sam, sitting so still in the seat next to him. Fuck, what he wouldn’t give to see him doing his usual, ‘I’m too damned tall for this car’, dance.

He never thought he’d say this, even to himself, but a patented Sammy bitch face would even be nice. Hell, any fucking expression would be better than that blank look he’s wearing.

Except for when he’s trying to blend in. And, man, that’s even scarier, to see him slip on a look and try it out for size. If Dean didn’t know better he might even believe some of the smiles he flashes were real. But, now that he knows what to look for, he realizes not a damned one of them ever reach his eyes. Much less bring out the dimples of doom.

When the hell does the universe finally decide that their family has hurt enough, given enough? God, he just wants his fricking brother back! Is that too damned much to ask?
