Brad Wright is such a whiny fanboy, isn't he?

Yesterday I posted a response to an article over on SCiFi Now about Stargate Universe and how the big, mean fans are destroying the show. Here's the link to the article itself:

For whatever reason my response is still awaiting moderation so I just wanted to get what I said out there. What was written in the article pissed me off, in oh, so many ways. But, still, I did my best to be polite in what I wrote. Just in case they don't ever clear it for posting, here it is:

I found this article pretty insulting and offensive. You made broad, sweeping generalizations with very little basis in fact.

I, and my husband, have been fans of the Stargate Universe from the beginning. We followed it from Showtime to SciFi and were loyal through all the years of both SG-1 and SGA. We loved the characters and the ideas behind the shows, and forgave them their clunkers, because, overall, it was worth it.

We tried to give the new show a chance, even though we were part of the demographic that Brad Wright out and out said in interviews were unimportant and that he didn’t need to succeed. We stuck with it for most of the first season, hoping it would get better. It didn’t and we quit watching.

Not because we were punishing the show but simply because it was unrelentingly dark, boring and they didn’t make us care about the characters they brought into our home week after week. They tried to be BSG but they never seemed to realize that that show had a heart amidst all of its darkness that made us want to stick around. SGU didn’t and it just didn’t work.

Blaming the fans of the old shows for the failure of this one appears petty, childish and shows an immense arrogance on their parts that they can’t admit to themselves that, maybe, the show failed on its own merit. Or lack thereof.

You told the older fans to go away, that you didn’t need them to succeed. Well we listened to you and we did. Guess you were wrong about that, huh?
