I hate how scanning always seems to butcher anything more complicated than a basic line drawing. Maybe a new scanner'd fix that, my old scanner had a wonky scanning head and was awful at anything but monochrome. Or it may just be my inexperience with actually adjusting the levels and curves settings on an image (I usually scan and go).
Here's a photo of what I've been trying to scan.

Got inspired by Cerebus, and a leetle carried away with the cross hatching.
My hand hurts now.
