I don't mean to keep harping on Livejournal's problems and brokenness, I really don't. But there are two entirely separate screwups happening over in LJ-land right now, and I wouldn't want any of my friends to get bit by either of them. Yes, I know: Two at once? That's a little excessive even for them, but... the evidence is pretty hard to deny.

Ah, let me explain. Commenting puts you in no danger at all.
When you commented, that caused LJ to send me an email saying "Hey, Glamtasm just commented on your journal!". Now supposing I had the HTML email option set, and I wanted to say, "Hey, Fey, look at this"... so I forward the email to
feyandstrange. She opens it in her email program, and thinks, "Hey, I'd like to reply to Glam's comment, and there's a handy reply box here..."
So she types in a reply, and then the comment shows up being from my account instead of hers. But there's no worry that she can reply as you, unless you're the one who sends her the email.
Or to put it another way: If you have the HTML email option set in your account configuration, and then you forward one of your HTML emails to someone else, then - and only then - that person can post (well, comment) as you. And even then, only on the page that the comment email refers to.
