I was talking about this earlier with Jimmy Hard-Core Malone! How so many movies are about a girl-as-an-image, even girl-power movies are often centered around girls getting "makeovers" to get them more attention. Women Being Seen, as he put it, which is probably taken from
this source (which is a really interesting documentary, if slightly outdated)
ANYWAY, what I'm trying to say is how much I enjoyed watching
WHIP IT, mostly because it's an excellent anti-example of this.
Ellen Page plays a girl who goes FROM being a beauty-pageant contestant to being a girl who takes action. I don't even care that its cookie cutter indie schmoop and that Page is a walking stereotype, because whatever. we need more movies like this.
hmm what else. I've been drawing all these stupid SPN character sketches and since it's break I don't have my girlfriends to share them with, woe is me. I drew Sam. Sam is fucking weird. and also ridiculously attractive. but seriously, what is with his tiny eyes? how are they pretty? And his FOREHEAD? jesus. its huge. I keep drawing Cas's head as a square but its a circle. I seem to only be able to draw Dean from the side. HMM SHOULD I POST THESE SKETCHES
also DEATH COMICS and TIME TRAVEL COMICS actually i need to get back to drawing those
p.s. i may or may not being drawing a 1967 Chevy Impala into an editorial illustration for a magazine, LOOK OUT
