Christmas - Written on December 25th

Ok so on Saturday I woke up at 05:00 for some reason, fell asleep again repeatedly and finally decided I wasn't going to get to sleep again so I jumped up at about 08:00. Packed a few things and then sort of loitered around the house moving things from one place, before deciding they were better were I had them initially, so I then put them back at their origin. I was a tad nervous and it was just making me do rather silly things, oh I did write a letter for Niki and sort of tidied things up at her place which was good. Shannon was a little late picking me up, but we made good time to the airport and the Maroochydore airport is teeny tiny, so it's not like I had to go very far to check in.

Well, on to the plane, no hassles, pretty quick take-off and had a rather funny cabin assistant. Here's a few choice quotes:

"In the event of a loss of pressure in the cabin, oxygen masks will drop down from the overhead compartment, once you have finished screaming, place them over your face and mouth and pull tight with the drawstrings on the sides."
"If this airliner should become a cruise-liner, life-jackets can be found under your seat."
"If you are unsure how to turn your mobile phone off, please ask the nearest child or myself."
"Smoking is not allowed at any time on this flight, the toilets all have smoke alarms and cameras in them... that's just ridiculous, they don't have cameras in them at all."

So yeah, his name was Jared and was a rather amusing guy. We played a game later called 'What's in Jared's Box?'. Basically he carries around a little box, you aren't allowed to touch the box, only look at it while he walks up and down the plane and shows it to everyone. Then afterwards he comes around and takes your guess as to what's inside it. Oh, he gave one clue too which was, "You can see it from your seat, but you may have to look hard for it". That didn't really help me, but when I saw the box and how it was bulging slightly I sort of thought what would make it do that, and I guessed a life-jacket. Which was correct, six other people also guess correctly and we all won two little cookies hehe. I gave mine to Bec. ^_^

I managed to get to the airport before Bec and James did, and sort of sauntered around a little wondering what to do and if I should go and get my baggage. As I was walking around I saw a sexy little Asian girl walk in with a sexy not-so-little Asian guy. Bingo! Bec and James. James bought me a chunky kit-kat and two tubes of lifesavers so I could make my own London bus. The idea is the kit-kat is red and long and resembles the bus and the lifesavers could be the wheels. I thought that was not only ingenious, but very thoughtful hehe. I didn't really make a bus out of them though, I just sort of... well, at them. :D But thanks for that anyhow James!

When you meet someone in real life after having known them online only for a decent amount of time, things are different. I thought they would be anyhow. I was very awkward at first and sort of receded into my silent self, but it took one thing that sort of just made that connection again, and then it was like we had known each other forever. :) I was persuaded to have Christmas dinner with Bec and her family as her parents had invited me. This was something that I honestly didn't think I could do, I mean, the thought of meeting my girlfriend for the first time had my nerves going. Meeting her parents, sister, aunt, cousin and two family friends? Well... yeah. Before the dinner we went shopping as I had to get something for the family, and I also got James a real London bus hehe. :D That took an hour or two, and was just nice to wander around with Bec alone for a bit.

But it just sort of happened, and it was great. Bec's mum is fantastic, and very funny. Bec's dad was very friendly but we didn't talk much which was a shame. He spent ages cooking up a feast, no lies, it was like from a movie: Pork chops, steak, Japanese seaweed (rather tasty actually) oysters, lobster (omg so good!), several kinds of pasta, potato salad, jelly grass water, a fish of some kind (salmon?) shrimp and I can't remember the rest. It didn't fit on the table though, and 9 of us didn't really dent it. I actually had some to take back to the hotel but forgot it. >_> Oh yeah and Bec's dad made a cheesecake... the best cheesecake ever in fact. Her mum said she was going to do fruit salad but didn't have time hehe, no lies, they made a banquet.

After that I spent some time talking to the friends and Bec's aunt who is also really cool. Deb made me laugh quite a bit as she regaled some horror stories of Christmas customers at Safeways. She doesn't like people who don't shop at Safeways... apparently she only likes a few that do hehehe. In fact, everyone there was cool, so let's just make that a given from now on. :) We left pretty late and had a little Christmas plan which was to go to this closed off area which is a kind of park with a lake in it, ok it isn't really, but the other version doesn't sound very romantic at all. :p Unfortunately that revolved around us scaling a 2 & 1/2m tall fence with barbed wire on the top in the pitch dark. So we decided to skip that and instead drove around for a bit and looked at all the houses with serious Christmas lights on them. Some people just go all out *laughs*. They were spectacular, and the best one we saw was just incredible, words can't describe it but luckily Bec took some photos so she will most likely put them up at a later date, also one of an excellent Christmas sign outside this one house.

Anyhow, since the first 'park' was a write-off we decided to go to a playground instead. At least it was well lit there which was important as we wanted to open the presents there. It was pretty cold though, and after we had waited until midnight whilst watching the stars we decided to head back to the hotel since it was warmer, brighter and we could have some music with my sexy laptop. We had presents from everyone really which was very nice and that was pretty much our Christmas. Possibly, the best Christmas I've ever had in fact. At the time of writing this I am in my hotel room whilst Bec is out at a family lunch, I'm pretty hungry as I missed breakfast (the cut-off is 08:30!) and hopefully when Bec gets here we can find somewhere open on Christmas day for foods!

I hope everyone had as good a Christmas as myself and Bec did. For us, I think it's only just begun.
