It's been a while. In fact I've been making it a habit of posting here on average once every few months. New job, which is awesome, I'm building some pretty complex machines all day. To some degree it makes up for the abysmal 2-hour commute each way by bus. It's only 20 miles from here but I have to transfer. The mp3 player and backpack pillow are my new best friends. As jarring and tiring as the commute is, though, it hasn't been without its share of interesting moments.
Watched a homeless man hand-feed popcorn to a pigeon, inside one of the train vestibules. Got into a conversation by chance about martial arts with a wise bus driver whose bus I ride on every day. Picked up a dime for an 80-something year old black man when he dropped it while paying his bus fare. Discussed politics with a student and a businessman. Now if I can just find pants with air-ride suspension, my commute will be peachy and a half.

I'm concerned about the coming cold, and progressively colder, weather. With snow and general weather delays, I'll be looking at 5+ hours of commute time. So I've tentatively begun looking around Montclair and the Caldwells to try to find a place that's closer to Fairfield. I like Carlstadt, it's conveniently located near the city, but lately I haven't even been going out much to the city or otherwise simply for the fact that it's near impossible to do, being so limited on transportation. Hopefully I'll be able to find some sort of resolution though I'm doubtful that the DMV/courts will budge. It's now 5 months into my 1+ year license suspension for driving without insurance, having not had the money at the time to renew it. Some dumb luck, at least! If there's some way through this particular shitstorm, I hope to find it soon. At this rate, living even a half-hour closer by bus would be a plus. If anyone out there has ideas, my ears are to the wind.

Hooray, though, for no more cheesy mac frozen dinners. -_-
