tis summer

well i havent updated in this thing for quite some time, but i doubt anyone has missed it. summer has been alright so far, nothing to write home about, but i havent been bored. ive done a lot of reading. i finished my emergence of the church book, read Jesus, among other gods by ravi zacharias (the smartest man ive ever read), a charge to keep by W, and now im reading reagan's war, about him kicking the crap out of communism, and how the weak left and europe wouldnt help at all (except the Catholic Church.... surprise surprise it was up to Christians to do the right thing).

jimmy was home for a few days so we hung out a few times. nothing to write home about again, but its always a good time with jimmy. we went down to the rail trail in MD one night with megan and walked around, which was fun, went to mignano brothers with megan and the markel clan, and they forced me to eat, even though id already had dinner, and we just hung out. twas good times. megan also helped me make a pillow for my mom for mothers day, that said "charm is deceptive, and beauty is vain, but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised Proverbs 31:30". i did most of the sewing myself.... booyah! my mom said it was the best gift shes ever gotten, and she took it to school to show some of her fellow teachers, so i was glad she really liked it.

i just got a book called "teach yourself new testament greek". i havent started looking at it yet, but im excited about it, although i think its going to be really hard, but my friend michelle from psu who is greek said she could help me. im so bi-lingual. i also just ordered some books with a barnes and nobles gift card that jen got me for my bday. i ordered the orthodox church (which i need for a class next semester), orthodoxy by g. k. chesterton (who ravi zacharias quotes a lot), encyclopedia of heretics and heresies, and byzantium volume 1: the early years. im excited for those to come... theyre all going to be real phat.

i almost forgot that i had my 21st bday. i went to see kingdom of heaven with mike, schwinny, carroll, and betsy and i fell asleep, as did mike. carroll yelled at me bc i wasnt out drinking. my bro got me a sweet rush live dvd. rush is tight yo, plus he gave me a sweet cd of some band that is real tight. my parents got me a new gym bag cause my old one had a hole in it and wasnt very big, and i got some money.

i joined ed and dave kleins softball team. im playing for stewartstown united methodist church in a slow pitch church league. we are curretnly 5-0... i was there for the last two games. my first practice i went to i missed almost every ball at batting cause i wasnt used to the slow pitch, but i did BP again with dave, and then the second team practice i hit quite well. i popped out twice in the first game, but in the second game i hit a double with an RBI and got a single from a fielders choice and eventually scored. twas a nice improvement.

i went to a Bible study that i heard about from kris simpson and megan waltermyer. it was a good time. lots of good ppl, and its always goigood talking about the Good Book. they do that every monday night i believe, so thats sweet. i got the hookup for the summer.
the second monday but dads band, Chosen, was playing at a church in MD, so a lot of the Bible study kids came there to hear it, which was cool. it was a good time, theyre a pretty good band, and actually since that show, i am now the bass player in the band. i dont really know what im doing, but my dad likes it.

so megan waltermyer is doing a speech at bacculaureate, but the pastor in charge, mr. hescox, apparently has problems with her speech bc it might offend ppl, and his son said something to her along the lines of "when the pastor says youre too much of a Jesus freak, you know theres a problem". yeah, the problem is the whacked-out pastor. the idea of a pastor calling someone a Jesus freak is completely ridiculous...pastors supposedly devote their lives to teaching about Him!!! when my dad told me about this, i got pretty ticked off. liberal Christians like mr. hescox make me sick. if your faith doesnt transform your life then its pointless and you dont really believe too much. aaaaaaalso i told my dad and megan this when i saw her at susky: Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love the LORD with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. how can you be anything BUT a Jesus freak if you truly follow this commandment? Megan is a Christian who is on fire, and knows whats up, and i told her i would be there to hear her speech and clap for her, and not to listen to so-called Christians who want to put her down for being faithful. not to mention, her speech is all about doing good works for other ppl... yeah thats REAL offensive (lets not forget that bacculaureate is a CHURCH service). this kind of stuff makes me sick. either be Christian or dont... quit watering down a powerful religion.

im seeing allison krauss and union station with jerry douglas tomorrow with my parents. its going to be super nasty. the whole band is sick, especially jerry douglas. the best darn dobro player out there, and ever probably. mmmmm bluegrass. the zooma tour with trey and ben harper got canceled which is gay, but im still seeing tom petty and tbe black crowes and im going to the creation festival which should be a good time. ppl from Bible study and my church are going, as well as friends from school.

i think thats about it.
