JP waited, leaning against the fence and looking out over the river. He couldn't wait--after nearly two months of searching, he finally managed to find Zoe's birthday present. It had been under his bed, under some sketches he had tried to make of some of the Digimon they had seen on their adventure.
Hands closed over his eyes from behind him. "Guess who!" the familiar voice called, and he smiled.
"Why, that could only be...Neemon!" he laughed, and Zoe swatted him lightly on the backside.
"You're so awful," she chuckled. "Well, I'm here! What is it you wanted to show me?"
He turned around and got the box out of his pocket. "Close your eyes," he told her, and she did so, smiling expectantly.
When he was sure she couldn't see it, he opened the lid and drew the thin silver chain out from the cotton lining. Taking both ends in his hands, he reached around her neck and fastened the chain, making sure the charm was right-side up. "Ok, open 'em."
She slowly opened her eyes and looked down. "Ooh, a necklace...and--oh my gosh..." she gasped.
JP smirked lopsidedly. "You like it?"
"It" was a butterfly charm, with light purple wings the color of Kazemon's armor. Zoe's hand closed over it, and she stood there for a moment with eyes closed before tackling JP to the fence in a tight hug. "It's beautiful! Thank you so much, JP!"
In a way, JP was almost glad that he'd taken so long to find it, because this was how he always pictured a perfect moment.
