Alas, the Odaiba Memorial Day post in my RPG and the subsequent mourning of every character in the multiverse (well, close enough) got my Ryo muse thinking.

Every New Year’s Eve, Ryo throws the breakers and turns off the electronics in the apartment, claiming they’ll see the fireworks better without all the lights on in the house. Most people’s New Year’s traditions are rooted in tradition. His is in paranoia: No more chatrooms for him!
Instead of looking forward, Ryo looks back. He does not celebrate his first digital world experience like the Chosen would; he remembers his sacrifices there: Leomon, in the Graveyard. Those two Clockmon, for the gate to the future. Monodramon’s freedom.
Fandom may flail, but for Ryo, August first is just another day.
