Digimon Fandom:

I've been rewatching Digimon Frontier lately, as Digimon Savers has put me on a nice little Digimon kick as of late.

And watching it again, I've noticed something... I'm not sure if it's just me, but I get the feeling that a lot of people miss Kouichi's personality, when they don't neglect him entirely.

Kouichi is messed up mentally, to be sure. Once he recovers from the whole Duskmon thing, he realizes... "Crap, I'm supposed to be DEAD!"
Yet, this is a kid who, mere hours after getting his Spirits ripped out of him, and while he's still mentally recovering from being flippin' brainwashed, stands up to what they all believe to be Cherubimon - who they also believe to be one of the most powerful Digimon in the world right then. And he does this fearlessly, without batting an eye.
In battle as a Digimon, he's a certifiable badass. Ask Cherubimon's clone, the Phantomon, or IceDevimon.
When faced with RhodoKnightmon's revelations about his true state, he's naturally bothered by it, but is able to keep it from everyone (the humans, anyway) and put on a brave face, fighting against all odds without any hesitation. In the end, sacrificing himself in their attempt to defeat Lucemon.

Somehow, though, Kouichi seems portrayed (and is even viewed in discussions I've seen in times past) as a lot more emotionally fragile than he is. Despite everything he did and the way he ACTUALLY acted. He may not be all put together right at times, but he's far from a weakling.

And certainly, he may not have it as bad as Junpei, but everyone rants about Junpei's treatment. :P
