A few hours of rest has done nothing for my laptop, which is once again going through insane overheating problems and this time seems to have sacrificed The Path, a game that I was trying to power through in a day (completely possible), in consequence. It overheated and shut down when I was in the middle of a playthrough, and ever since the game has opened to a black screen with no sound. My video card's up to date and what the group who made the game suggests, it was working fine before, with no freezes or glitches, my RAM is far greater than the recommended, and my screen resolution has no bugs. I'm impatient and waiting for a response on the forums is...taxing. A new fan will solve the overheating, but Dell is going to be receiving an angry call tomorrow about the quality of their internal fan.
What to do until then? I've proven with a trip to TV and a gaming session of Pokemon that I cannot wait for this to be fixed -- if it can be fixed. At best, it looks like I'm headed for a refund. So I'm digging up my inner pirate and downloading a torrent copy, hoping that it's just my copy that's buggy. I've already paid for it and I'll keep the charge on my card. As long as I get to play it, that'll be good.
It's not so much that I wanted to play it that badly. It's that I was looking forward to it. You know how that feels, right? You get all excited for something and then suddenly...bam. It's like hearing through the grapevine that you're having a fun movie day in a class only to show up and get a test. It's a punch in the gut and it killed my mood for the night. My laptop now is starting to get suspiciously warm again. My fan is the problem, I know. It caused my keyboard to go malfunction the other night. I'm fed up with it. So much that I can barely get excited about anything else right now. Heck, I even beat the Elite Four in HeartGold and it only got me mildly upbeat.
Maybe I'll watch the new Scooby Doo show. Nostalgia always gets me to smile. Run only a few programs, sit on the floor so my laptop isn't near blankets. Not exactly the most...comfortable thing, but I can still salvage the night. Roleplay drive is currently dead completely. That's even more annoying.
There are some days when I really, REALLY hate my computer.
