Bermuda, Bahama, Barbados?

Who goes to Barbados for Christmas? My parents, it seems. My little brother and I are staying - I requested very kindly that they bring him or me with them, whichever they preferred, but they did not grant my request. Unfortunately, it seems that the very bouncy 3rd year called Seth will also be staying over winter hols ( Read more... )

Oh wow Diggory, my parents are going to the Caribbean for the holidays too! Only they're off to Aruba, lovely and not snowy at all Aruba.

It was the weirdest thing - they just sort of sent me an owl explaining that they'd only just realised that it was their lifelong dream to go to Barbados over Christmas holidays (which may have had something to do with the fact that it was supposed to be our year to host the huge family Christmas busines...hmm...) so off they are on the 15th for 3 weeks.

Same here, although without the huge Christmas party bit. Mum and Dad decided that England just wasn't cheery enough for them I suppose. Plus well...Christmas isn't the easiest time of year for us.

Ah, well, perhaps it's going around. Something in the water supply that gives parents a migratory urge to fly south for the winter and leave their children where they are. Really? How so?

Oh, I hope not Digs. That would just be terrible.
Uh...well that's a little personal. I'd rather not go into it, if that's okay with you. Just know that Christmas brings back some troubling memories for us.

Terrible, but I'm beginning to think that it's a reasonable theory. I'm just hoping mine fly back with guilt-gifts.
That's fine, I didn't realize... I mean, if I had I wouldn't have asked. Sorry you have troubling memories of Christmas.

I also enjoy guilt shopping. Hooray for parents who buy stuff for us when they don't want to talk about feelings!
It's okay Diggory. You're a good guy, I knew you didn't mean any harm.

Ah, yes, my parents do so hate to talk about feelings. But if it results in numerous guilt gifts...well...
Yeah, well, causing harm when you don't mean it's the worst, because then it usually means you cause harm to one of the last people youd' intend to.

My parents are just as bad. They lavish attention on me so they don't have to deal with emotions. It's great fun.
I'm over it Diggory, let's not dwell on what feelings were and weren't hurt. It harms both parties when we dwell.
But anyway, I hope your holidays don't suck too badly. With or without family at least we're at Hogwarts.

Haha, mine are under the impression that I can do no wrong, and they like to hint strongly at this from time to time - probably why my brother's such a trouble-maker.
Good plan - I have dwelling tendancies. But by all means, I hope your holidays don't suck too badly either, and I hope that your guilt gifts are well worth it. Yeah, at least there's that.

Your poor brother. My Dad's lost all his hair thanks to me. And he tells me that too. Constantly. Once a week.
It's rather funny.
Those were the best holiday wishes I've gotten in a long time. Thanks Amos!

Yeah, in some respects, I do feel sorry for him... hard to follow. My dad still has most of his hair - though I find it suspicious..
Haha, any time, Dorcas. Any time.

It is suspicious. He probably has a hairpiece or has been rubbing that Hurbertson Haircream stuff on his head. My dad use to reek of it before he finally gave up and decided to use his lack of hair as ammunition against me.

I'm thinking it's possibly a piece, or a potion of some kind... though I suppose the only way to figure it out is to just wait and see. Parents are good for that.

Or you could try to snatch the piece off his head. Of course it comes with a few risks. If it's fake, it'll be hilarious. If the hair is real...well I hope you can run real fast.

Yeah... I think I can run pretty fast... though if he has his wand handy...
