I'M GOING TO SPAIN & PORTUGAL!
MY DREAM TRIP TO PORTUGAL & SPAIN IS SET TO BECOME A REALITY!
Well, we’ve got out plane tickets, our car rental, and our hotel booked for the first night in Lisbon. We fly out on September 3rd at 11 pm, the day after my birthday. My sister, her husband I will be going, but not Ed, who is afraid to fly.
Our plan is to stay in the south-west, traveling from Lisbon as far north as Coimbra, down to Badajoz, after which we will visit Sevilla, and then travel to Cadiz and Gibraltar before heading back to Lisbon for our return flight home on September 18th.
We will be trying to follow Wellington’s army’s route as written in Bernard Cornwell’s “Sharpe” novels, more or less. We also want to check out some Roman ruins and Muslim architecture. I am hoping that we’ll also have time to take in a football game or two, possibly to see Benfica in Lisbon, or Recreativo Huelva or Sevilla in Spain.
I am so excited about this trip. It’ll be the first for me to that part of the world. I’m hoping that I’ll like it so much that I will want to go back many times. I’d like to take Sean with me. Maybe next year, if I feel that he can handle the traveling. But for now I am looking forward to discovering Spain and Portugal for me, for the first time.
