I was running around campus just being a college student. I think I lived in the dorms in this one. Somehow I received the knowledge that I was going to be shot that day. It wasn't a threat or a warning, but some kind of premonition. So I spent the day running from this guy with a gun, but any time I tried to hide from him, he'd show up and try to take a shot at me. Finally after hours of this, he caught me and had a clear shot. At this point I could have still tried to run, but since I knew I was going to be shot and there was no way around it, I just gave up and collapsed on the ground right there. I wanted to get it over with. But (and this is the really interesting part) right when I was collapsing, he fired. The bullet just grazed my side as I hit the ground. If I had continued to run away from him, the bullet would have hit somewhere else and probably gone through me. I find this so interesting because in all of the stories we have about people being given knowledge about bad events happening to them in the future, their actions after receiving that knowledge eventually lead straight to that bad event. The more you try not to kill your dad and sleep with your mom, the more likely it is to happen. But in my dream, it was the knowledge of the bad event that saved me. If I hadn't known for sure that I was going to be shot, I would have thought I still had a chance and continued to run. This instinct would most likely have gotten me killed. But resigning myself to this fate saved my life.
I don't know quite what this means, but I'm fascinated by the idea of it.
