DiFWy Monthly Update - Dec 3, '06
A (hopefully) monthly rundown of the latest developments and highlights at the
DiFWy Creative Forums.
Announcements
- *Welcome to Our New Home*
Thanks and warm welcomes to everyone who's stopped by the new forums and registered so far. I hope you're all liking the new digs.
If you have any ideas or suggestions for improvement, please post a thread in the Feedback Forum and we'll see if we can do it or not.
Actually, there's already talk of a DiFWy-wiki to supplement the forums (not much talk, but a little). So if you haven't already deposited your two-cents on the issue and/or cast your vote on the poll, you might want to swing by and see why (or why not) on the wiki idea.
(So if we did get a wiki, would we call it a DiFWiki or a DiFWy-wiki?)
- *New Forums*
At least two new forums should be up by the time I post this announcement, both private forums:
The Core. This one's for the privacy of the old vets from the old forums. A lot of us have become a pretty close-knit group so some of what we talk about isn't exactly safe on publicly accessible sections of the board, such as things like sharing personal contact information, non-public discussion, arranging meet-ups like Otakon and other private information. More information in the Welcome message in the Core Forums.
I've already set Core member status on all the old vets on the new board so far, so you should see The Core forum automatically when you log in. If I missed you or if you've registered late, PM me so I can add you to the list.
(Not to be cliqueish or anything, but really you wouldn't want any dumb-ass stranger to butt into your private conversations, right? 'Tis just a precaution for unwanted interlopers so we'll still have a private place to call 'home' when we start getting visitors and new people.)
The 'project' forum. Project staffers should already know what this is for. You should also be able to see it already under the Creative Forums section. If you don't and you still want to help with the 'project', PM me so I can give you access. *Please note: This is just to give access to *existing* project staff, not an invite for new staffers. So if you don't know what I mean by the 'project' the answer is 'no you can't join'.*
- *Archivers Wanted*
The subscription for the old board @ ezBoard.com expires... well, crap, it expires today... I thought it expired on the 8th. I should have been paying attention to that. Anyways, that's a lot of history behind the community there that may potentially be lost to internet oblivion.
So to preserve the DiFWy past and prevent internet oblivion, I need some volunteers to archive some pages from the old board's discussion threads. We don't need to save every single post (I don't think losing the Word Association Game would be detrimental to our continued collective existence) just what you think is worth saving, deep discussions, milestone threads and in general just posts that define who we are and what DiFWy is.
I don't know how long much longer the old board is going to exist once the subscription expires (I already got most of the major FI threads archiving 'til 5am), but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Discussions of Note
Spotlighting a few threads of interest.
It's been quiet the last few months, but we're still new (in an old kind of way). Here's hoping Decemeber will be a chatter-filled month, but until then, here are some highlights...
From the SoapBox
The new and noteworthy at the SoapBox
- Akino's had a lot of postings since the new forums opened with 4 chapter updates (7 through 10) to her Digimon Frontier story, Yang-Yin, and short-fic called Remember, also of the Frontier fandom.
- Ajora's also got a notice up for Salva Nos, her epic Digimon fanfic novel inspired by the sci-fi/drama series, Jeremiah.
- And Asmodemon squeaks in just as I'm typing this with a piece of Mai HiMe fanfiction, Mai HiME: The Golden Millennium.
Staff Notes
Nothing impendingly urgent to note. Though we should probably get going on revising those FI rules, so FI staffers please meet in the staff room at your convenience, so we can start sorting this stuff out.
That's about all for today I think. Good thing, it's been a slow couple of months or I'd be here longer trying to remember all the highlights worth... well, hightlighting... Here's hoping I have something new and interesting to talk about when January rolls around.
Catch'ya all at the boards,
