The Tourist and the Temple

Take a walk through the Ngong Ping Village and you can have a Journey of Englightment, well at least that is what the sign tells you. The “village,” which is a series of shops and restaurants leading you around a small part of the mountain, also has shorter journeys for those too busy for enlightenment; you can take a walk with Buddha or maybe a trip the Monkey King Theatre. It is the dharma of the consumer here on Lantau Island in Hong Kong, so you might as well go for a ride on the Ngong Ping 360,, a cable car heading the rest of the way up the mountain, before building up some merit at the giant Tian Tan Buddha statue nearby this tourist village.
