Kind of nice.
I've been spending most of summer so far loafing around. It's been nice. But I've started working again so I'm not just spending money or wasting away.
Alex and I have been talking a lot online recently. One more thing we have in common: our primary blog-reading/following is about sex or sex workers. It's more interesting than other topics people blog and it's a less-ad-infused form of entertainment than bad porn.

List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they’re not any good, but they must be songs you’re really enjoying now, shaping your spring summer. Post these instructions in your blog along with your 7 songs.
So I'm not only reading about sex. And in no particular order:
1.
Dumb Luck Dntel. There was a long period of time where even though I subscribed to podcasts, I didn't listen to them. I started to partway through the school year and this song really struck me when I heard it. I recently downloaded the album and it's almost a compilation disc. Soft, sometimes sad, but good music.
2.
Babay (Eat A Critter, Feel Its Wrath) The Blow. I would thank Emily here for introducing me to Khaela Maricich but she doesn't read this so what's the point? I love The Blow. She's amazing. Makes me think about the digestive system in a whole new way.
3.
Casta Diva Anna Netrebko. We spent the last month or so in my Women in Film class working on a project/presentation. My group looked at Wong Kar Wai films and I watched Chungking Express, In The Mood For Love, and 2046. I believe this song or a version of this song was featured in 2046 and it's amazing. I've never been much into opera but this song is beautiful.
4.
Sentimental Heart She & Him. I first heard this song on xpn at the start of the summer. I know it's self-important to quote myself, but I stand by what I wrote on
tumblr about this song: "The lyrics are simple and there aren’t many of them but this song is one of only a handful that come to mind that is so incredibly honest and captures an emotion so purely."
5.
Summer Love Justin Timberlake. I've been really into this song for quite a few months now. It's just such pure sex.
6.
Candy Mandy Moore. Alex and I spent two nights in a row looking up pop videos. (We've actually been continuing this trend on and off for maybe two weeks now.) Mandy Moore only did one good song and it's this one. It's such a late-90s
video just in the fashion and the bubblegum popness. She's balls young. I think she's 14 in this video and skinny as fuck. The dancing is terrible. She did not get the same dancing abilities her older-sisters of pop, Britney and Christina, got. But I love this song/vid anyway.I love how teenage-skater-boardwalk-summery it is. Also, that letter she recites is pretty great.
7.
Think About it Flight of the Conchords. They’re turning kids into slaves just to make cheaper sneakers/But what’s the real cost/'cause the sneakers don’t seem that much cheaper/Why are we still paying so much for sneakers when you got them made by little slave kids?
Writing entries again feels nice.
