Gender differences: As told by Google add-ons

Google Fight is a website that compares the number of results in Google for two words or phrases (e.g. god vs. satan). In theory, this allows the user to compare which concept is more popular on the internet. Unfortunately, the site appears to be down today. The following comparisons were made manually:
  • "Men" appears 748,000,000 times; "women" appears 629,000,000 times.
  • "I love women" appears 162,000 times; "I love men" appears 123,000 times.
  • "I hate men" appears 92,300 times; "I hate women" appears 54,300 times.
  • "Women are crazy" appears 27,700 times; "men are crazy" appears 9,580 times.
  • "Men are stupid" appears 37,100 times; "women are stupid" appears 19,100 times.
  • "Gender differences" appears 2,000,000 times; "sex differences" appears 1,870,000 times.
Googlism searches for humorous "definitions" of a term by finding the most popular hits for "[search term] is". According to Googlism, "a woman" is "what she is", "like a cow", and "raped in the United States." By contrast, "a man" is "in love", "linked to a woman's selection", and "made truly godlike."

A friend of mine remarked that the main differences between dating men and women was that men are stupid, and women are crazy. When I first heard of Google Fight, I ran two of the searches above and was amazed to see how much the internet "agreed" with this assessment, since it wasn't a difference I'd noted in my dating. I've been lucky, or perhaps blind, enough to find really crazy men, and very few stupid people at all. As for the Googlism results, I have to say that it sort of reiterates what writing Difference Blog has suggested to me for the past year: the dialogue surrounding women is so overwhelmingly negative, even when written from a feminist perspective. I find it incredibly depressing.

[DISCLAIMER: Although I hoped this would be clear, it seems worthwhile to point out that this is not the same as science, and drawing any conclusions from humor sites is strongly discouraged. This is just filler because I'm on vacation today. We'll return you to your regularly scheduled overinterpretation of sketchy results on Monday.]
