This post is a tribute to the Best Book of 2007:
Yeah, that's right. You read me. It's honky-tonk meets under-da-sea and I am ENRAPTURED BEETCHES.
This post is also a tribute to my taping a crusty golden tinfoil reindeer to the back of my unobservant coworker last Thursday night because he deserved it. We know not where it came from (we suspect a book) but it gave us much muffled laughter and for that we are grateful.
This might as well be a tribute to 2007, the year of Unrelenting Crap. Up yours, 2007.
On January 1, 2008, I learned a New Thing and that is Taco Bell has a height measuring tape on its main doorframe. So that any perpetratin' burrito-haters may be immediately identified as 21 quesadillas high.
I'm pretty sure it wasn't there before. Was it there before? If so, I guess on that New Year's night, its measuring tape-ness was especially vivid. It went all the way up, though. I mean, who the fuck's 8 feet tall? Big Bird? Yeah. Big Bird wants yo cash and a chalupa to go, Taco Hat.
...O__O
All hail the tribute to an awesome Christmas present my family gave me.
Fraggle what. Fraggle what.
Fraggle ROCK!
*happy sigh* Can you believe I forgot about Marjorie, the All-Knowing Trash Heap? Or the eccentric inventor and his dog Sprocket? But once I started watching, it all came back. The music, the hilarity, and the touching sad-puppet moments...>.
After I finished the first three discs (out of five), I spent a good half hour depressed and wailing over Jim Henson's untimely demise. Damn you, Jim Henson! You put da lime in da coconut AND you take the doctor's call in the morning!
If not for your pneumonia-enabling ways, we could be fresh in love your latest creation, Gajibble & The Saucy Wibbets or whatever.
Santa Family Claus also got me the collectors' edition of Pan's Labyrinth. :D My other presents were great, but these two were dead-on hoyeah.
Megan, I think I saw from your Facebook album that you got a flashlight? I got a flashlight too! LMAO! It's one of those rechargeable wind-up ones. I'm very glad for it...I have normal one, pink with double-D batteries or whatever, but I couldn't find it the last time power went out at 3 in the morning and I needed to go to the bathroom. So I had to do it all in the pitch-black, no-reflective-surfaces, dark.
*laugh* Power seems to be going out more than usual around here. I think in 2007 it was down at least 15 times--obviously not counting the times when we were too unconscious to notice.
I remember being on the downstairs computer at two in the morning, my family's asleep, the moon's on full wane outside, and then the power shuts off. I'm sitting there in the rapidly-cooling basement, encased in an eerie silence...my hand still on a computer mouse that I can no longer see...when a metallic FLAFHKFKLAH! noise resonated from upstairs. A bunch of pots and pans descended to the kitchen floor in perfect timing with the blackout. I don't know why.
And that's my tale of woe. El fin.

So. Next semester will be my last regular school semester. I'll be finishing off with a class or two during the summer and possibly an internship before graduation in August. Ugh. I really have no coherent thoughts on the subject right now, therefore let's stay in the Now.
What I Am Doing At This Exact Moment
Literally: Typing this post, listening to J.J. Lin's "壓力 (Pressure)," attempting a mass burn and/or mass deletion of the music stacking up within this computer...it's a mighty mighty quest. Wondering why red apples make me itchy and my mouth & throat swelly, but green ones don't. Thinking bad things about
this Korean boy band. (Megan, you soooo cannot stop me. No. Don't! Don't press that 'edit post' button! I'm not kidding, Megan!)
Ahem. I present Dong Bang Shin Ki. Haaaaawwties of the soopa-fine persuasion.
(All have excellent voices. n.n Great harmony.)
From left: "Hero" Jaejoong, Xiah Junsu, "Micky" Yoochun, "U-Know" Yunho, & "Max" (the one making the squishy face n.n) Changmin.
I do believe Jaejoong is the prettiest male on the planet. In fact, he's too pretty for this planet. He is not of Earth.
He even looks delicious blonde. *hoarse* It's not right. It's not right.
I'm going to South Korea right now. SEEya.
In The Grand Scheme of Things: Taking math placement exam next weekend. Maybe Thursday if I feel like it. I don't, but you must understand that this is relative to my underlying feeling of don't-feel-like-it-ness. In general, I see that this exam is a mere splintery-speck on my path of life. It might be a log after I do some studying, but EVEN LOGS CAN BE STEPPED OVER.
I'm so done with that metaphor. Also in general, I do feel that anxiety over graduation, but mostly I feel...freed. The wrenching ambivalence of these past years in college has messed with my head and although I am in some ways stronger for it, I'm glad I will be removed from it. It's disappointing to have your professors say that college is the best time of your life, but I refuse to buy into that kind of resignation. If you people are so unhappy with your lives, then change. It's as simple as that. Don't be so afraid. I know I'm talking big for someone who hasn't even started her career, but I know that I am going to do something that makes me happy. I'm done with the little things getting in mah way. I'm sick of having to pretend that I feel bad for not following a syllabus exactly or for missing a class that accomplishes nothing but sitting in plastic chairs.
In The Really Grand Scheme of Things: I'm your new messiah. Come with me, my children. We shall start anew...on Xanadu.

I'm in a love/hate relationship with The Milk-Eyed Mender. I don't know if any of you have listened to Joanna Newsom, but she has a compressed, pseudo-sour voice that sounds like her jaw's been wired to her chest...or something...and that HAS to be deliberate, okay?!
It's such a grotesquely beautiful album and it drives me friggin bats that I like it. I literally get a tic when I'm listening to her, but...the...instruments...and I like the lyrics sometimes.
Ahhn. Try this song: Joanna Newsom--
The Book of Right-On. ("I killed my dinner with karate/kick him in the face/taste the body")
I discovered Moon Hee Jun last week and already he's an absolute favorite. He was in an extremely popular Korean "boy band" called H.O.T. before he went solo; he recently released his fourth album, Triple X. He's one of those artists I just bond with instantly. His voice is gorgeous; he can go from some sweet refrain to screaming in an instant and it all breathes into this divine intoxication. X.x
I looooooove this song:
Akkimeopsi Juneun Namu (Generous). (Play it over and over and over and over...)
And please try Yoav's
Adore Adore. You will adore it. Ho ho ho. (No, really.)

I'm dying to the change the layout, but until the downstairs computer is operational, I am divided from my necessary graphics program. Boo. I'm willing to take theme suggestions! I've become tired of the robobunny (heheheh, I still think the carrot laser guns are funny, though). How about a Mafia My Little Pony design? >:D
