Well, I finally made it to see the doctor, hoping against hope for the magical medicines that Mandy has been speaking of.
After two hours, some blood work, lots of talking, and a really long Q-tip down the throat, the doctor told me that yes, I do have mono.
Unfortunately, the only thing I got besides the confirmation was a brochure helpfully titled "So, You've Got Mono." The doc said that I was just going to have to ride this out for at least another month, during which I can't carry stuff and have to take vitamins.
Oh, and apparently I have "puss sores" on the inside of my throat. This seemed to amuse the nurses with the long Q-tips. Which would make me hate them with the fiery passion of a thousand suns (Mandy claims suns are very passionate.), except that they also kept asking me if I wanted them to get me a coat. I hadn't really noticed, but apparently this morning I walked fifteen minutes across campus in 13 degree weather without getting cold in jeans and a t-shirt. The bad part of this, though, is that when I got to the health center and they took my temperature, this walk went into account and they couldn't determine what my actual fever was.
As it is, I would really like to know who got Mandy and I infected with this. Since I was already sick in Tuscaloosa and also cause of the incubation period, some Nebraskan is obviously at fault here, and I just might murder them.
