I did it..
So I was walking through best buy yesterday to pick up another season of ER (since after years of not being interested, for some reason, now I cant get enough) and there it was... all encased in glass, seductively illuminated by soft case lights.. my camera.. my beautiful camera. I really wanted the new Mark III but who has 5g's kicking around. It was beautiful, its the model just below the Mark III, the Cannon D40. (I know... sounds like a bra size, but really.. the camera is as good as tits if not better as far as I'm concerned. ).... And what was sitting next to it you ask? The 430 ex speedlite flash... It came in a bundle with the 20-135mm image stabilizing ultrasonic lens (which I already own) for $2,000.. so who needs that I thought. For the camera body its only $1500 and the flash is only $450 more, and a 4 gb card is only $120 more. The chick who was helping me was also checking me out, and she gave me 10% off (which just takes care of the tax) So for $2000 I have all the equipment I want for now... but HERES THE BEST PART.. that chick FUCKED UP SUPREMELY! Instead of just the camera body, she sold me the bundle for 1500... so basically I got another lens (that I originally paid over 800 for) for FREE! I know, I had a moral conflict about it last night, and I'm over it. Its not a person that I'm stealing from, its corporate america... and really, its not my fault she didn't pay attention to what she was doing. Bottom line is, I'm willing to sell my soul for another pretty lens. I was thinking about selling the old one for a couple hundred so that I can replace my 70-300mm with the new 70-300mm with image stabilizing technology... or for a battery power pack... so that my lighting kit can be totally portable.
