Christmas time

What a weird Christmas this year. We've always spent Christmas with Phil's parents...it's was really REALLY weird not having mum around...I mean, just plain off. I miss her so much. We always had Christmas Eve with Phil's family, then Christmas with my sister but this year, this is how it went...

We scheduled to have Christmas Eve at our house this year since we no longer have mum with us. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE cancelled on Phil and I, except for his dad. Since we didn't have anyone coming we called up my sister and asked if she'd like us to come over with the food since we had it all, and she needed to prepare for Christmas, so she wouldn't have to cook. We asked Phil's dad to come with us. He respectfully replied with a no (which I understand). So we went over to my sister. My sister, bro-in-law, 2 neices, nephew and my mother was there (ugh...) My sister was already done dealing with her and I could tell she was ready to go crazy! Mom was already tanked by the time we got there and she was still going the whole time. So she was a pain in the ass. So we started up the two fondue pots (which is the christmas eve traditional dinner for the st. johns for a while now) and then the POWER GOES OUT....we waited 2 hrs in the dark. Eventually the power came back and we had an awesome dinner. It was the first time the kids had fondue and they loved it! Phil did an awesome job on the dipping sauce :-) Phil and I stayed up and openned presents :-) He got me a jewelry box, aquamarine and diamond earrings in white gold, an awesome telescope and a book with star maps, finders, and books. I loved them all!!!

Christmas came. We went to Phil's cousin's house first. The dinner was great and very tastey. We openned gifts. Phil's dad loved the scarf I made him. It was very special because I made it from the yarn that he had given me after mum died. That yarn had been through several hands. He cried a little bit and said it was the best present. I'm so happy he loved it. He wore it around for a couple hours. After being irritated by Phil's brothers' fiances (who for some reason wanted to argue that Christmas Eve hadn't been with Phil's parents since Phil's bro divorced his wife which isn't true. just because they weren't there, they don't know)for a while we suddenly were leaving to head to my sisters (time went by fast). It was fun at my sister's house. Tons of people there. Although I had forgotten to make a green bean casserol and forgot to bring xbox controllers to be able to have extra players.

We planned on having my dad come the day after Christmas but he rescheduled to yesterday so his girlfriend's son could see our lights. Well they came, but about....1/2 hr before they came, we LOST POWER. A tree fell on the power lines down the street and the WHOLE town was out. We had gotten tickets to a movie too which we couldn't go to since the power was out. We openned presents by candle light. Merry Christmas...I told my dad maybe he is just not supposed to see our lights this year.
