MAYBE IT'S SURPRISING TO YOU, SHIZU-CHAN, but Izaya does not have a problem "submitting" to someone if it means that he'll get something he considers of equal (or more) value in return. True submission, though, is a lot different and incredibly unlikely, because it requires Izaya giving up some parts of him that are so intrinsically him that...this is what most fic writers have problems with, I think. Because Izaya does not have a problem with getting fucked up the ass, or playing the slavee in what could be a SM situation, but it's because he's playing the slave and is not actually a slave. There has to be something in it for him, and he has to be able to maintain a certain aspect of his dignity--which means he has to have a certain value of control at any given time, whether or not his partner fully realizes it.

let me preface this with FOR IZAYA, SEX IS MORE 'MEANS TO AN END' than anything else, especially at this point in his life. That said, most sex for him is used as currency, and...with the amount of enemies he's made, he doesn't trust anyone enough to risk the dangers that would come with bloodplay. He might end up really, really dead! This is if it's inflicted on him, naturally, but he also doesn't have the interest in bleeding someone for sex unless they're asking for it. In which case it becomes more a situation of pleasing his partner so they give him what HE wants and less of being into it himself. The only person this is different with would be Shizuo, partly because he knows Shizuo can take it, and partly because he doesn't! really! care! if he accidentally kills him or something. AND! if there was actually a situation in which he is having sex with Shizuo, it is probably from adrenaline after a fight orrr he provoked Shizuo, which would still cause some sort of damage done to them both before they get to the sex part.
