I feel safe here; my udderblag clamors for attention to professionalistic updates, but I prefer...whatever this amounts to, right now. Some self buttering-up, looks like.

2008 is breezing by like a fly through a slowly closing fist.

Pump up my instrumental self-esteem: taught myself how to tie on guitar & ukulele strings - successfully restrung THREE strings that had broken but still had enough length. I BOUGHT a TROMBONE with the exact same amount of money I FOUND on the FLOOR OF A BUS - $40 - a steal or WHAT? The slide was sluggish, so I bought some slide grease, squirted some water, took some measurements, realized the slides were misaligned, BENT them BACK, and now it's a very useable trombone. Bitchin.

I cleaned my room. There is now a floor. I am on it. Here is the current instrument inventory: 2 ukes, tenor uke, accordion, trombone, bass clarinet, clarinet, flute, bassoon, otonal organ, autoharp, mini hammer dulcimer, three musical saws (how'd I get Lorene's saw?), violin, guitar, fretless guitar, 3 vessel flutes, 6 fipple flutes, 6 recorders (sopranino to alto), synthesizer, digeridoo, various toy percussion, foghorn, strange toy barrel organ, electric kalimba, jawharp, 2 nose whistles, 2 harmonicas, 3 slide whistles, picobot.

I PLAYED a BASS RECORDER at Archie's music shop, a fact that deserves its own paragraph.

I met THIS guy in rural Tennessee, which deserves another.

Despite all these excitements, so much of my time right now is going to the low-down - cleaning up, plannings, meetings, walking, repairing, cooking, eating, worrying about money, waiting-that I'm missing the higher-ups like composing, spotlighting, making juicy decisions, watching as my mind changes, hiding-and perhaps, now is ready for the re-introduction of those things.

Tonight, I'll be making some decisions. Ok.
