Personality: Misa is a very typical girl, and she's practically bound to leave a lasting first impression on people who meet her. It's rather hard to not notice her to forget her, since she tends to have such a loud presence. Misa is a very energetic girl up to a point where it could even be called hyperactive at times - enough to make her seem a bit childish to people. Her reactions make her seem like she wears her heart on her sleeve, they all seem to come from first instinct. She smiles when she's happy, she pouts when things don't go her way, she winces when disgusted and you could just go on like that. She's a rather bubbly girl and because of that sometimes gives off an impression that she's not quite the brightest crayon in the box. She even goes as far sometimes as referring to herself as 'Misa Misa', speaking in third person like a little kid would. She is a very friendly girl though, and her light and happy personality makes it easy for people to get along with her as long as they're willing to put up with the moments of slightly childish behaviour. Misa doesn't seem to mind making friends, in fact, she encourages it and easily proclaims people to be her friends. She even becomes friends with L, proclaiming that Light's friends are her friends as well. She seems to love making up cutesy nicknames for people she likes as well.
She is a well-known idol in her world, which means she does have quite some real-world experience and knows how things work in the business, which tends to be pretty rough at times. This also means she cares about her appearance - not always to a point where it would be considered vain, but usually pretty close to it - as she's always shown with pretty fashionable outfits in the series. (Even if her outfits tend to be somewhat quirky at times; she mostly seems to have interest in the gothic lolita kind of fashion.) Due to her work as an idol she has also played in movies and the like, so her acting skills are actually quite good, even if someone might not quite expect it from her usual straightforward and impulsive behaviour.
In fact, this acting even implies to her personality. She doesn't fake all of her brightness and bubbliness, but she is able to do it at will just to fool people or make them let down their guard around her. Misa is actually a lot smarter than she comes across as most of the time, she just isn't as open about it. In the series she managed to get a confession from the Third Kira through a plan she came up with entirely by herself, not to mention that she even had elaborate plans to contact Light even with the police and L constantly being around him. She might not exactly be as smart as most people in the series - Light, L, Mello, Near, for example - but Misa is a pretty bright girl. Don't get fooled too much by her initial ditziness and her typical blonde behaviour at times.
A very important part of Misa's personality is that she is completely and utterly devoted to Light. Her family was murdered by a robber, but the robber was never punished for his crime - not until Kira killed him, that is. From that moment she wanted to seek out Kira to thank him, but instead from the moment she met Light (who was Kira) she instantly fell in love with him. It even goes from love to a complete obsession with the guy. She would do anything for Light, and I do mean anything at all. Misa doesn't hesitate in suggesting coldly that she could kill her friend if they would get in the way of their plan. Nor does she seem to have any qualms with cutting her life span in half twice just to faciliate Light's plans. She's quite lovey-dovey with him (from her side, that is), constantly clinging to him whenever she gets the opportunity to do so. Light's feelings on the matter are quite the opposite though, and perhaps part of her does realise this. As she says during one part of the series: she doesn't mind even if he uses or manipulates her as long as she can be with him. Misa mostly seem to ignore his lack of affection though as she continues to act all lovey-dovey over him.
Her loyalty isn't just creepy in that way though, it goes down another path of creepiness completely. She's so obsessed with Light that she wants him to just be completely hers, and she won't tolerate any other women around Light. Around the time they first properly meet she tells him that she will kill any other women he goes out with, and later on in the series when she's having a dinner with Takada (who Light is involved with at that point in time) she grins cruelly and tells Takada that if she continues this, she'll probably be executed. Yes, there's a cruel side to Misa as well - a side that doesn't hesitate in killing people who are in the way of her love for Light, or just in Light's way in general. When it comes down to the person she loves, even the bubbly and happy Misa Amane can become a cold and ruthless killer, even if it's just using the Death Note for it.

Abilities: Misa is pretty much an ordinary human. The only special thing she has are the Shinigami Eyes - a special ability she got after making a contract with a Shinigami in exchange for half her lifespan. This ability allows her to see a person's name and remaining life span, although she can't see her own life span or the life span of other Death Note owners (like Light). Apparently they also give her 3.6 times her current vision. THE MORE YOU KNOW.
There are a few restraints to using this ability though. When you look at a deceased person (directly or at older photos or pictures of them when they were still alive) no name or remaining lifespan will show up. You can use a photo or a video to see another person's name and life span though, as long as their face isn't obscured. (Glasses etc. don't really count for this.) The ability doesn't work on drawings of the person though.
Inventory: Her handbag, which will practically contain the things you would expect to find in a girl her age's handbag: randomly assorted makeup, a hairbrush and some hairties, a cellphone (which will obviously have no reception nor a way to recharge in Demeleier) and her wallet with some slight change in it.

Sample writing: The sound of high heels clicking against street tiles echoed against the storefronts on both sides as the girl walked down the street. Some people turned their heads as she passed by, others started whispering too each other. That wasn't such an uncommon occurrence - after all, the girl walking there was the famous idol Misa Amane, widely known from pictures in magazines and even some movies by now. And even if the girl hadn't been an idol, it still would have been hard to ignore her presence. Striped stockings contrasted against her red plaid skirt and black top, her big cross necklace bouncing up and down her chest as she nearly skipped down the streets. Not quite the kind of outfit just anyone would wear out on the streets, but the girl didn't seem to mind it - no, she actually looked rather happy as she was brightly talking to someone on the phone as she went.
"Hmm, don't worry, Misa will make it to the photoshoot tomorrow!" She giggles happily as she held the cellphone up to her ear. "Don't break your head over it, Mochi.. You'll get wrinkles all over your face like that, you know!" There was something almost mockingly stern in her last statement, but after that she already started smiling again, seemingly pretty carefree. With a few last nods and 'uh-huh's as the man on the other side of the line spoke she ended the call, but just as she was putting away the cellphone again it started ringing again, the ringtone some up-and-coming new popular song.
"Geez.." She pouted a little to herself because of the constant phone calls for her job, but as soon as she saw who the call was from on the display screen her facial expression immediately changed. Her eyes widened a little, her smile widened a lot, even a slight blush appeared on her face as she almost struggled to not drop the cellphone in her eagerness to answer the call.
"Liiiiiiiight!" Her squeal into the cellphone was so loud that people's heads started turning once again, although now for an entirely different reason. The person on the other side of the line seemed to somewhat calm her down a bit more, as she lowered her voice's volume even though it changed nothing about her squealing tone. "Hmm, I'll be back home in a little bit, so just wait for me, okay? You wouldn't believe how much I missed you while I was at work today, I love you so much!" Apparently the other person quickly ended the conversation by the time she was starting to make kissy sounds into the cellphone, but Misa seemed to shrug that off for now. Instead she still looked rather happy as she skipped further down the street, humming a song under her breath as she went.
Sample journal entry: [ Even as the camera is turned on it seems the girl is still busy positioning it just right, but after a few moments she seems to be okay with the current view the screen is giving and she just smiles, giving a little wave at the camera as if she's in the middle of an actual show on tv. ]

A girl has to get her clothes somewhere you know, and it's not like cool yet cute clothes are just going to appear out of nowhere! They should at least have considered a girl's needs before throwing her in a place like this. [ She pouts a little, almost childishly so. ]
