DFB takes up investigations against Slomka

Hannover 96's coach Mirko Slomka has to expect a punishment for his genuflexion during Hannover 96's match against Leverkusen. The DFB has taken up an investigation.

"The control board asked Mr. Slomka to make a statement soon," DFB spokesman Michael Morsch said. The punishment will be decided upon afterwards. A fine would be possible, as would be a ban. After all, Slomka is regarded as repeated offender.

He was being sent off the coaching zone during the Leverkusen match because his going down onto his knees was regarded as a way to inflame the audience during the matches' last minutes. Slomka had been red carded before, during the match in Schalke in April 2010. Both times, Matthias Anklam was the fourth official. Coincidence? Slomka has already announced not to accept the ban.
