FRANKFURT (AP) - Freiburg won 5-2 at Koblenz to clinch promotion to Germany's first division Sunday, three rounds before the end of the season.
Freiburg is returning to the Bundesliga's top ranks after spending four seasons in the second division.
Freiburg has 64 points, 10 more than Mainz, which lost 2-0 at St. Pauli. Nuremberg is third at 53 points after drawing 1-1 with fourth-place Greuther Fuerth, which has 52.
The top two teams are promoted, while the third goes into a playoff with the 16th-place team from the first division.
