Finally, some news on kiessling - for anyone who was wondering. Both kiessling and ballack are back in training
Bayer Leverkusen have been boosted by both midfielder Michael Ballack and striker Stefan Kiessling making good progress in their recoveries from injury.
Ballack has yet to feature for Leverkusen since heading back to Germany last summer, but has returned to the training pitch this week as he continues his recovery from a shin problem.
He told his club's official website: "It was a bit of a surprise for me to return to the training pitch already.
"But I'm absolutely delighted to have kicked a ball again after a long spell on the sidelines."
Michael Ballack has indicated that he is pleased with the way he is healing following the broken leg he suffered in September.
He has suffered from two severe injury set-backs this year. An ankle injury sustained with Chelsea in the FA Cup final in May ruled him out of the World Cup, and just after returning to competitive action in his homeland, a fractured tibia against Hanover 96 represented a second big blow in 2010.
“I am using more of my crutches. It is a step that is incredibly good, because there is nothing worse than being condemned to inactivity and waiting,” the veteran explained to the Bundesliga’s official website. “I can finally work with a specific purpose and although rehabilitation is monotonous, day after day I see progress, it is motivating, but I cannot wait to finally touch the ball.” (i think this is an old quote because hes been off the crutches ever since he won that award about a month ago i think..)
The 34-year-old acquired the problem in the third round of Bundesliga action, taking much of the shine off his return to one of his former clubs.
Meanwhile, Kiessling is a little further away from a return to action after a knee injury.
Head coach Jupp Heynckes added: "He looks good and he has done well in his rehab.
"However, it is clear that Stefan still needs to do a lot of work. He will train every day from now on, alternating between running and doing strengthening work."
