AFT: The Doctor has a new record player

Mar 29, 2014 16:03

My Doctor has purchased a cool record player / radio with boxes. And the best thing is - this radio really works! Although I need to find the right button yet LOL
Also all the little things in the shelf are totally new, a shaver and a mixer and the fruits are erasers actually, from Japan.

Lovely I wonder what music is on his new record.

I have no idea! Someone suggested Big Band music. But maybe he only likes that because Jack Harkness likes it ;)

(I am about to make my own 12" Jack Harkness now. Can't wait to have him for pictures!)

Holy Hannah, I think my college roommate had that record player. Talk about antique technology.

You mean, in real size? Amazing!
Well, the Doctor is quite antique himself, so I thought it fits him! He must have collected a lot of stuff over the centuries. I'd love to have a big TARDIS where I never run out of space.

Apparently, if I turn the handle from the record player, the frequenzy of the radio should change, but nothing happens. I wonder if I dare screwing it open and have a look for a loose connection.

Yup, it looks like the same one. The section to the right of the turntable, with the window-like pane and the silver buttons -- that was an audiocassette player.

Ah! I was wondering what that was. Too bad it does not open. But I do have indeed a few audiocassettes from Barbie, so I can have the Doctor listen to those as well! I do even have a diskman, so he can move forward in time - first records, then audiocassettes, then the diskman LOL

Oh, I have so many ideas, I could spam this journal with pictures every day.

Amazing...so many details. And it's not surprising the Doctor would have an old-fashioned record player! After all, he's even older than me! :D

Heh ;) It's true, we tend to forget how old he is! That's why I also fell in love with that vintage shaver. Somehow, it fits him. Expect a bathroom scene with him shaving ;)

Then again, I probably already invest in old fashioned things while waiting and hoping for my Jack Harkness figure...

Oh wow. Those are perfect for the Doctor. I love them all, especially the eggbeater. And I can't believe that model works. Wow.

I think we'd all like a TARDIS for storage space!

Well, the radio SHOULD work but although I can turn it open, I can't change the frequenzy. The seller says I do it by moving the handle but nothing happens. Hopefully my father can fix it.

BTW, the eggbeater technically should work as well! At the side you can't see, there is a little wind-up, sadly it is broken (these are all used stuff I get from ebay sellers)

I got my new Schrankwand now, need to take pictures! I am putting all my boxes back in and have more space now than before.

I definitely want to see pictures! I'm spring cleaning/decluttering and everything is a wreck. But one day, someday, I hope to have an organized spaced for my minis.

Good news - the radio works! It wasn't the handle, it was the turntable that needs to be moved. Silly me.

Sorry, forgot again to take pictures of the new furniture. Maybe tomorrow! Decluttering is good. I also don't put everything back in that was there before. Hopefully someone on ebay would like it.

Those are totally awesome! Again, the DETAILS! By all means, open it up and see what you can find. You've got the kind of mind that would remember how it goes back together. If it's broken, trade it in, but I'd definitely have a look first.

I'm just a bit wary of technical things and afraid of making them even more kaputt. I think I'll let my father do it ;) He is good with that as well. Or probably I could find a professional radio repairman! He might smile about the small thing.

I don't think I can trade it in, it was a private ebay auction and there won't be a second one. The seller said it worked for him so something must have indeed come loose by shipping.

Once I only wanted to change the batteries in my TARDIS (which has light and sound). I screwed open the bottom and suddenly all these parts fall into my lap! Took a while to put them all back where they belonged to, so the door would still open automatically etc. I was very proud afterwards, I have repaired a TARDIS! Then it turned out, the box where the battery is supposed to go into, was somewhere completely else and didn't need a screwdriver at all...

It works now! I was just stupid. It was the turntable that needst to be moved, not the handle. My brother found out by trying and we got music indeed!
